I can’t believe the bastard told you to “just choose”. I mean COME ON. Choose? Are they serious? Like actually? You were mad, obviously. I mean who wouldn’t be? The blatant bi-phobia that nobody did anything about would piss any reasonable person off. The thing is, you tend to express your feelings through your tear ducts. You hate crying in front of people. It makes you feel like less of a man. It’s been told to you since childhood. “Man up, be a man” ect ect. Your girlfriend Charlie is the only person you’ve ever cried in front of. The funny thing is, you’re dead. It took your entire life and LONGER to get over this even a little. She rubbed your back. “You know, crying doesn’t make you less of a man. In fact, emotional vulnerability is the manliest thing I can think of.” You looked at her with a single raised eyebrow. “Charlie that’s bullshit. If I cry in front of people they’ll think less of me. It’s just a fact.” She tears up and hugs you. “Nooooo…that’s not true…crying is a natural human reaction to when you get overwhelmed. Everyone cries.” You place a hand on the small of her back as she comforts you. “I know it’s gonna take some time to get over this insecurity but admitting you’re insecure is the first step to getting over it. I believe in you, my handsome man.” She continues. You let yourself cry as you rested your face on the top of your head. She smelled like a campfire and her favorite lavender perfume. It’s quite a combination of scents but it’s the kind of scent that relaxes you. At this point she was crying too. Partly because she was proud of you and partly because you were crying. She always cried when someone else did. You’re getting better. Part way because of her encouragement and part way because of you. You are strong. Strong people cry. And there’s nothing wrong with it.
