Dammit Moon Moon | Gia & Toby
Standing outside Twin Mmons, Gia leaned back against the bricks, fighting her lighter. A small breeze seemed intent o coming between her and her cigarette, causing Gia an aggravated sigh. “Come on,” she growled, giving one last frustrated exhalation, she tossed the unsmoked cigarette aside.
Glancing up, she caught sight of a familiar face. Cracking a grin, Gia waved him over. “Hiya, stranger!” She exclaimed, eyes twinkling. “Whatcha been up to?”
Pushing herself off from against the wall, she smirked up at the male. “Hey, you don’t happen to have a working lighter, do you? I think mine’s seen better days…” Her voice trailed off as she dipped her hand into her pocket to show him the offending article.
“Either way,” she promised. “I’ll buy you a drink inside, yeah?”
"Bless you!" sighed Gia, as she inhaled deeply. She didn't smoke frequently, especially now that she had a sort-of daughter, but when she did, she relished it. Leaning her head against the bricks, she took a moment to enjoy it, before grinning in his direction. It always felt nice to breathe out and just be for a moment. Irresponsible or not, Gia had always liked Toby. In a way, she thought they were actually a lot alike - loving completely and putting that before any real kind of thought process, essentially...the whole werewolf thing being a given. When he identified her as the lady he wanted to see, Gia laughed brightly. "Missed me?" she joshed, grinning, but the truth was she completely understood the look in his eyes. She felt it, frequently, herself. With more vampires crowding in (the whole issue of the 'vampire revelation' and what it meant for the wolves as a species, aside) and their Queen "renegotiating" with Everett, there were reasons to stress everyday without even considering the more personally pressuring weights. Gia's expression softened, brow contorting. "How's your mom?" she asked. She knew it was probably the last thing he wanted to think or certainly talk about, and she felt guilty bringing it up, but she couldn't bear to think that it could be getting worse and he wouldn't feel he could vent to her, if he needed to. "If you want to talk about it," she shook her head. "Believe me, no pressure if you don't." When he proposed to get the second, she nodded decisively. "Deal," she added, brightly, brushing unruly strands away from her face, impatiently, as he asked how she'd been. "Oh, you know," she shrugged. "The usual. Trying to get Devon to not roll around naked in my neighbor's yard, mostly," she laughed. "Other than that, unsuccessful job search and lots of bars, so I'm not complaining," she added with a bright grin. Gia shook her head. She often considered her life to be rather ridiculous, but in a way that was part of what she loved about it. "You?"

With tensions as high as they seemed to be growing in the community of Oxford, Toby almost welcomed the weekends with open arms — not that he usually didn’t. With all the youth left in him he knew that the Twin Moons would be his place of choice for a drink and good company up until he died — and he wasn’t planning on doing that anytime soon. He approached the bar, a slow and steady smirk already creeping onto his cheeks as he saw Gia standing outside the joint, reaching into his back pocket to grab her his old zippo before she could even finish her question. "Desstrin," he responded warmly, flicking the lighter open and holding the flame to the cigarette between her lips. "Just the lady I wanted to see," Toby grinned, snapping the top shut and shoving the lighter back into his back pocket. It really hadn’t been an understatement, wither. With the week he’d been having — between work and his mother and just life in general getting more and more complicated — nothing sounded better than a Saturday night at the tavern. Honestly? Getting plastered. "First round on you, second on me?" he offered with a small nudge, moving to lean against the building as he stood beside her. "How have you been?"
Gia's laughter was soft as she quirks a brow at him. "I knew it," she teased. "Let's be real, Belfront, I keep things exciting," added with a wink. Her teasing demeanor dropped, however, as she watched his face. Weariness seemed to settle into his bones, his face worn and yet he still managed a smile. Gia's brow creased as she reached out to touch his arm. "You bear it well, but you know if you need anything..." She shrugged. "Whatever you need." As he mentioned his reason for being here, Gia nodded and, extinguishing the last of her cigarette she turned towards the door, pulling it open. "Only three?" She gasped in horror. "Let's fix that, right away!" Gia chuckled softly at the mention of the Packmaster. "You might be surprised," she retorted with a wink. If anything, though, he had helped change her - for the better. Gia didn't like to remember the scared, lonely little girl who'd first wandered into Oxford. "How's Brett?" She asked. As the self-appointed werewolf matchmaker, as well as a mutual friend to both Toby and Brett, Gia had always seen how they interacted and firmly believed there was something there. She saw it as her personal mission to help them along as much as possible. "It's been too long since I've talked to her."

Toby shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans, sending a nod and a smile at another couple walking into the Tavern for the evening as he stood outside with Gia. He laughed easily at her witty banter, shaking his head as he answered. “You know I miss you every second we’re apart,” he rolled his eyes — though his words weren’t technically a lie. Toby appreciated the pack more than he could ever put to words. Luckily, they were the type of pack, however, that he didn’t have to. It was a breath of fresh air, being out tonight. After his week from work hell, daily texts from his father on his mother’s condition only made things worse instead of better. Her bad days were starting to increase; to double. She had far outlived her expectancy, much to the surprise of the doctors and no surprise at all to the rest of the wolves, but it could be any day now. Toby almost had to hesitate before answering. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to tell her — Gia already knew more than most about his situation — it was simply a matter of how to answer without sounding completely… Awful. “It was a bad week,” he shrugged, looking down a moment as he kicked at a gap in the concrete with the toe of his shoe. “It’s not lookin’ good.” Toby looked back up to her, a small, only slightly forced lop-sided grin gracing his face as he shrugged again. “That’s why I’m here, after all. Not to mention you have been apart of at least 3 of my 5 most insanely black-out-forget-it-all drunk nights, so that’s pretty convenient,” he teased. Toby had to let out a low, belly of a laugh as she brought up Devon, his face tilting back to grin up at the night sky as he shook his head. “Well, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, G,” Toby chuckled, looking to her with a brow raised. “I would have thought you would have learned that by now with Everett,” he smirked. It was always easy to poke fun at Gia’s life. So glamorous. So ridiculous. So drunk. He made a face as conversation turned to him. “Good god, absolutely nothing.” Which wasn’t exactly true, he’d been a bit unlucky when it came to the ladies of his life as of recently. “Taking on more hours; taking on more of my dad’s clients, now that he’s retiring for good now. Mississippi summers are hot as hell.”
