“Stop squirming so much,” she laughed. “I don’t even want to touch you unless you’re still.” The last thing she wanted was Murphy’s hair to come out uneven- he’d never let her live it down. “I’m not going to cut you, I swear.” She had used to cut her own hair and while boys’ hair was different, she figured it could be that different. Hair was hair. Figure out how you want it, cut little by little so you had room for error and you’d be fine.
