"I could kill you... Oh it's just a little joke BUT if you try to hurt His Majesty it won't be."

Whether it was drinking, eating, or speaking, Isfan’s mouth hadn’t stopped. With his eyes dazed and intoxicated with alcohol-consumption, Isfan asked his senior officer a question.

“Lord Daryun, what do you think of this?”

“I just want to protect His Majesty.”

“No matter what happens?”

“No matter what happens.”

“Even if the enemies are the populace?”

“Even so. Anyone who holds their blade against His Majesty is my enemy.”

Daryun made his pronouncement. His meaning couldn’t be any more simple and clear, yet his statement was filled with boldness and truth. The other two held no hint of doubt about Daryun.

“Even if the enemies were you guys.”

Isfan lifted an eyebrow towards him.

“Even if you’re joking, that was taking it too far. Lord Daryun, we will never hold our blades against His Majesty. This is an insult to us.”

With a helpless smile, Daryun looked at his junior officer, who appeared to be serious even if he was definitely drunk.

“That’s true. I’ve joked about something I shouldn’t have. I ask for your forgiveness.”
