˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤ❛ㅤYes ! Sort of ! This is the Dreamflux Reef ! It's not supposed to be OPEN to the publicㅤ—ㅤbut I PROMISE it's not as scary or intimidating as it seems !ㅤ❜

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤIf this man would rather not BE here though, then as a bellboy, then he had to respect that. Even if he was technically off the clock at the moment.

“You know, every time I think I have the right of way the environment really does like to take a turn...” 

Probably expected of the Dreamscape, now that he thought about it. Heck, even the mere idea of a pleasant sleep was something he had given up on somewhere around his 30th birthday, so Penacony was an all-around new experience. 

He was sure he probably looked silly to the young boy, but figuring out the navigation necessities would likely make things easier in the long run. “So--if I’m understanding correctly, this is essentially like the wilds then—well, as far as dream logic goes anyways.” It certainly wasn’t the moment of Sol anymore, which was a shame. 

He had been having a rather nice conversation with the museum tour guide, too... 

‧₊˚ ⋅ ꒰১ ᯓ ☆ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤ𝑯𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒂𝒅𝒎𝒊𝒕, 𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 the man to want to leave the Dreamflux Reef. The place was just as much part of Penacony as was the Sweet Dream and this was the place he called HOME. But most guests who somehow lost their way and found themselves in the Dreamflux Reef were usually pretty SHAKEN UP and wanted to go back to the Sweet Dream.

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤWhen the man says that he wants to STAY, the child gives him a bright smile. It wasn't often he got to give tours of his home. Most of his time was taken up by the Reverie Hotel or the Sweet Dream and the other residents of the Dreamflux Reef had to take care of them.

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤ❛ㅤI'm GLAD you think that ! The Dreamflux Reef has seen better days, sureㅤ—ㅤbut we're still doing our best to keep the place together ! We have a bunch of shops still and a beautiful garden ! And we even have a shop where all of the staff are instruments like the ones that perform in the Sweet Dream ! If that doesn't interest you, we can simply take a walk ! Even if it's a bit bleak; the scenery is still quite LOVELY.ㅤ❜

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤA pause upon the mention of the other guide failing to mention the Dreamflux Reef. He couldㅤ—ㅤprobably guess WHY none of the other guides had mentioned it.

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤ❛ㅤWellㅤ—ㅤI think The Family doesn't really LIKE Dreamflux Reef. They don't typically ADVERTISE this place to the guests. Most people here were either born here or just wound up here in their travels. But I think I can still show you around the place as a RESIDENT and not a tour guide ! Where would you like to go ?ㅤ❜

“Actually? It seems more real than the sweet dream.” Empty, clear energy of struggle, there was something a bit more real feeling the raw experience of people just trying to live around him rather than the feeling of people just accepting the nice lies they’re being fed. 

Maybe it could help them with... 

"If it’s alright, I’d like to look around a bit. Ah—without disturbing anyone or being intruding. The guide never mentioned this area so I’m a bit curious about its existence.” Or maybe she didn’t have the time to say? It was hard to remember. 

There was just the strange sensation of drifting, or rather being pulled through a hole. 

“It’s quite different here. Bleak, but I can feel effort that’s been put into turning this part of the Dream into its own close and caring community.” A pause. “Well, as close as I can imagine possible. I’d be lying if the fellow sitting in the bin didn’t paint an interesting image.” 

‧₊˚ ⋅ ꒰১ ᯓ ☆ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤ𝑶𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔, it was so easy to see how the boy's lilac hues would practically LIGHT UP. A Nameless ! This man was one of the Nameless ! Sure, he had met lots and lots of travelers who seen far more planets than he ever hadㅤ—ㅤbut the Nameless were SPECIAL.

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤ❛ㅤC - certainly ! It'd be an HONOR to lead the Nameless through my home ! You've probably already seen the Square since you know about our local man in the trashcan. Most of the businesses are in Bygonevilleㅤ—ㅤwhich is a really unfortunate name but I PROMISE it's nicer than it soundsㅤ❜

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤThe run down square that surrounded the two of them would have probably put most people on edge. The bellboy seemed to be COMPLETELY comfortable as he began to lead the older man into the tiny little shopping district.

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤ❛ㅤYou're probably familiar with the Sweet Dreamㅤ—ㅤbut Dreamflux Reef was established LONG before it ! It's regarded as the center of ALL Dreamscapes ! People here even call the REAL Penaconyㅤ—ㅤbut I guess they're just a little bit bitter about the Sweet Dream.ㅤ❜

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤOnly when the two of them arrived at their destination does the child briefly stop. Most of the shops tucked away in those narrow streets were mere husks of themselves; emptied of everything but dust and trash as well as the occasional Dreamchaser who clearly drank too much Sousa Juice. Though, the shops and bars that were STILL open and the small crowds of people proved there were still fighting to keep it alive. There was even a group of Pepeshi trying to create some street art and bring some color to the place.

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤ❛ㅤHere we are ! You're free to LOOK AROUND and ask me any questions ! The shop with the musical staff I mentioned is here too ! ㅤ❜

“They don’t?” That... actually made a bit of sense. Even as he looked over a few of the dilapidated billboards and the skyscrapers, Welt could get that feeling. It was—disorderly. No real sense of control for what they wanted versus what those that lived here put forward. 

Why give it any attention when they could just as easily shove it behind a curtain and pretend it's not there? It felt so very... Emerald City for some reason. Keeping the image of perfection put forward while no one was allowed to be aware of just what was going on behind the scenes. 

“How very ‘Don’t pay attention to the man behind the curtain’ of them.”  Just a bit of an idle observation note for himself—though he eventually gave the boy a short nod of confirmation. No sense in wasting this kind of an opportunity to try and piece together the secrets. “Well then, as one of the Nameless I’d be quite honored to have the residential point of view tour from a rather resourceful young man such as yourself.” 

Maybe the almost borderline old-man brand of flattering was a bit much, but if Dreamflux really was disliked? Welt could imagine that it chipped away at citizen pride just a little. Now why could that be... 

“Since you are the resident of this area, I’ll let you decide where to take me first.” A beat. “If--there’s also some historical facts that you happen to know about Dreamflux Reef, I’d also be interested in hearing them.” 

‧₊˚ ⋅ ꒰১ ᯓ ☆ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤ𝑺𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 was an UNDERSTATEMENT. He could babble about his FASCINATION with that magnificent train that soared through the stars and his passion for the path of the TRAILBLAZE all day without even trying. But the man definitely held a keen interest in the surroundings. Once this tour was over, he would certainly be asking the Nameless a LOT of questions about their travels.

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤHe couldn't help but BEAM with just a little bit of pride when the man would thank him. Sure, he always felt happy when the Dreamchasers rewarded him or said he did goodㅤ—ㅤbut it was a little DIFFERENT when it came to his quaint little hometown.

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤ❛ㅤYou're welcome, Mister Yang ! I'm really glad I could give you a good tour of my HOME ! It's small but we've made it work really well, I think ! ㅤ❜

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤAt the question the man asks; the child stops and thinks. The Dreamweavers that helped shape Dreamflux Reefㅤ—ㅤwhat were they thinking when Dreamflux Reef and the Sweet Dream were created ? He was just a child that knew some of Penacony's historyㅤ—ㅤso he could only GUESS.

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤ❛ㅤWellㅤ—ㅤI believe Dreamflux Reef was actually created BEFORE the Sweet Dream. But I've been told too that Penacony and by extension, Dreamflux Reef used to be a prison for the Interastral Peace Corporation.ㅤ❜

˚ʚ ☾ ɞ˚ㅤ˗ˏˋㅤㅤ❛ㅤSoㅤ—ㅤI'd like to think that the Dreamweavers that made this place BETTER than that terrible prison wanted its people to be FREE and HAPPY ! Some of the people here don't like the Sweet Dream and think it's fake and capitalistic. I'm not really bitter about the Sweet Dream or anything but I guess that whole spirit of FREEDOM is still here and the people want to preserve that ! Is that what you think makes this place human ?ㅤ❜

That—hadn't quite been the reaction that Welt was expecting, though it made him smile all the same. The boy looked fairly young, perhaps too young to know of the former passengers they were looking for, though he couldn’t help but wonder... “I take it you’ve heard a lot about us?” 

Had to be the case. He was pretty sure that was an old Express pass the kid had fastened on his shirt. 

He left the thoughts for now, following behind and listening. And looking, of course, though Welt couldn’t help but note the similarities between some cities from back home. At least—the ones that seemed to carry a particular feeling when walking around. “I used to visit a number of cities back home that looked like this. People going about their lives, running their businesses—though between you and me, I think a few of them definitely could’ve been improved with a little shop ran by instruments.” 

Welt couldn’t help but reach to one of the bricks on the wall just to simply touch it. It was... curious, the feeling of harsh intention versus the saccharine makeup he had seen. And yet even now, despite limitations, there were still glimpses of something filled. Something built with intent. “Did the dreamweaver that made this place have a particular reason for wanting to create a location away from the Dream?” 

Perhaps that would explain the solid feeling of Intention versus the empty promises of satisfaction. Another little tap before he nodded to himself, turning to the boy. “Thank you, Misha. This place... it’s very human.” 

For the Welt of humanity, that was the highest compliment he could give.
