Howland in regards to Meera and Jojen
Howland is not truly Meera and Jojen’s father. They are his niece and nephew whom he adopted when their mother and father passed. Howland himself remains unmarried. His sister is mistakenly called his wife by others much to his chagrin.
Howland in regards to the Starks
Howland has a complex relationship with the Starks of his time. He was in love with both Lyanna and Ned, though he knew he could not be with either of them. Lyanna’s death broke his heart and why he never married.
