edna’s dialogue always gets me here because of her projection of her own abuse onto gorrister and blaming him for glynis’s trauma as if her and her husband weren’t the biggest instigators of her suffering dont get me wrong gorrister definitely takes some of the blame but edna’s behavior is definitely a catalyst for glynis and gorrister’s toxic relationship and she absolutely refuses to accept that also interesting that harry never really chimes into this conversation but he’s absolutely still guilty never stepping in to protect his daughter thus condoning the abuse and passing his alcoholism onto glynis as well it’s no wonder glynis stayed with gorrister for so long because he was her only escape and he knew this and that’s probably why he also stayed with her despite not knowing how to really care for a victim of abuse she had nowhere else to go i imagine gorrister has a savior complex of sorts which is why he ultimately blames himself for her being institutionalized does any of this make sense im just ranting in the tags atp
