Yoo Jonghyuk stared down at Biyoo for a while before putting her in his pocket.

In my first read, when his identity was revealed, I started a whole rant about how every Yoo Jonghyuk needs a Kim Dokja.

I looked at the trajectory sword and emotions filled my heart. He was alive, although he wasn’t exactly the same as he was when I left him.

His physic was bigger, his impression a bit sharper, and he had a scar in his cheek. But there was no way I wouldn’t recognize him.

I’m sorry but I will be passing away for unknown reasons.

Dokhyuk Moments: Part 22

This damn guy. Did he think I came here to die? This might be the 1863rd round, but he would be mistaken if he thought I would obediently die.

I can’t describe how this is a Dokhyuk moment, but it is. At least in my head.

I look at Yoo Jonghyuk’s miserable face and though, “Don’t worry, Yoo Jonghyuk. I’ll do the rest, you can rest now.”

Same as before

Gabriel sighed and sucked water again. [What? They were digging and holding each other by the collar just a few hours ago.]

In the distant place, Kim Dokja seemed to be stroking Yoo Jonghyuk’s head. -

Gabriel is reminded of Uriel and herself. It was different but there was some resemblance.

Dokhyuk Moments: Part 23

Midday Tryst was a temporary item. After a certain time elapsed, the period of use had to be extended by additional coins. Yet Midday Tryst was activated without delay, meaning someone had been expending the time.

This makes me soft inside. The way YJH didn’t loose hope even after three years.

Head canon that Bihyung and Jonghyuk don’t get along because of this.

The children ran into my arms and hugged me. I stroked Shin Yoosung’s head while I watched Yoo Jonghyuk.

I screeched when I realized this. I hadn’t read The Song of Achilles in my first read of ORV, but now...it wasn’t even the real him tho-

As I bent forward, I could see old combat boots. My gaze went up and I saw the man in the dust black coat. Suddenly, I felt refreshed. I knew that Yoo Jonghyuk belonged here.

For the next two days, I was on Yoo Jonghyuk’s hospital room. I hardly met with other people. —

Yoo Jonghyuk still didn’t wait up. —

“It seems he is refusing to wake up...perhaps he experienced a great shock.”

THIS TROPE- THIS TROPE RIGHT HERE IS SUCH A CLICHE BUT IT IS SO MEMORABLE!!!

I opened my mouth while watching Yoo Jonghyuk. “You grabbed me first and dropped me down a bridge.”

I knew he couldn’t hear me but I still wanted to talk. *insert flashbacks*

The first time I encountered him on the bridge. Suddenly a laugh emerged.

How to hurt people: Emotions. What if he was awake? Like in most books with this trope? He might as well be.

Dokja: speaking to a dead body lmao

I felt a coolness from my neck and woke up. I gasped while sweating before realizing it was a dream. ——

Slowly, I rubbed my eyes. Then I realized something was wrong.

“...Yoo Jonghyuk?” —

On the bed, a pocket watch with a familiar design remained.

And the left gift too- they combined the coma trope with this trope 😭.

And the nightmares about the lover blaming you trope.

Head canon: Yoo Jonghyuk was at least awake when Dokja was sleeping and heard his sleep talking. He was the one that woke Dokja up by saying his name.

I was worried. I didn’t know what the damn sunfish was doing again. My depression returned as I thought about the regressor.

I love how a single look from Dokja can calm our regressor bastard calm his tits.

My declaration prompted an explosion of messages from her and Yu Jung-Hyeok.

Dokhyuk Moments: Part 30

– There is a person who hadn’t given up on his life even if it went past 1800 times.

Yoo Sangah looked at the screen. There was a man wearing a black coat within it.

– There’s another person who had lived that life alongside him, too.

And then, a man wearing a white coat standing next to him was observing his companions.

Yoo Sangah is like a narrator of a crappy romcom.

“However, Hyunsung-ssi is definitely alive. So, please, don’t worry.”

“In any case, he won’t be of any use to us now,” said Yoo Jonghyuk indifferently as he unleashed his Status. “Every one of you, keep your wits about you. This isn’t the time to wallow in sadness.”

I didn’t miss that opening and dug right in. “Well, looks like the introductions are over and done with, now. So, let’s start fighting, already.”

This strangely reminds me of Wei WuXian. Damn I like Jongdok and WangXian parallels.

Lee Jihye’s surprised question was answered by me, instead. “It’s easier to offset the shockwaves the closer we are to their origin. And the first two can be defended against if we do our absolute best, so you don’t have to worry too much.”

Kyrgios’s complaining voice sounded thorny. Not only were his looks enough to slap Yu Jung-Hyeok’s face silly, but even the way he spoke slapped the latter silly, too.

Lee Jihye sprinted to where we were and began shaking me by the shoulders. “Ahjussi!! I thought we’d end up as grilled squid, you know!”

Shin Yoosung grasped my jet-black scorched wrist and spoke. “Ahjussi, about the next phase….”

The moment I saw the determined eyes of both her and Lee Gilyoung , I understood what they wanted to say. Yoo Jonghyuk butted in first. “You two must stay back.”

Worried father? 👀

“What do you know, you sooty bastard! I wasn’t asking you anyway!”

Lee Gilyoung’s provocation was met with Yoo Jonghyuk’s emotionless reply. “This isn’t the issue of your willingness, but effectiveness. You two do not possess any Stigma or skills related to ‘fire’.”

“In that case, you also can’t fight, then! You don’t have stuff like that either!”

The corner of Yoo Jonghyuk’s lips curled up as he lifted up his sword. And in the following second, the blade of the [Dark Heavenly Demon Sword] was enveloped in a fire-type sword aura.

I gently patted the tearful Lee Gilyoung’s shoulders.

This is like waiting am immature father show off his video game skills toward his child. He smirked— as if he wants to impress the children after the divorce- I’ll go die now

….Hey, now that I thought about it, this guy also possessed lightning-based attribute, so why didn’t he lend a helping hand earlier?

I love how Dokja and Jonghyuk basically have this mutual anti-suicidal thing going on. Like- Jonghyuk refusing regression because of Dokja and Dokja’s ••• (spoilers 😊 apparently, many of y’all haven’t finished ORV yet and use these posts to motivate yourself to read more chapters)

Then, someone else did stop them from the front.

It was Anna Croft.

Anna Croft’s voice, along with <Asgard>’s Great Story, managed to tie all three of them to their spots.

Id like to appreciate Hayoung here- we don’t talk about her enough. She’s the second most legitimate child of Dokja, second to Biyoo. It’s adorable-

A thing I noticed on this read was how Hayoung and Dokja’s relationship is so under appreciated. It sort of reflects actual trans child x parent relationships in real life, if you think about it. Dokja ‘made’ her and characterized her as a male since she first appeared in his life. Then when he actually met her (replicating how parents don’t know their children all that well sometimes) and she identified as a female, he sort of thought of her as delusional. Then, he accepts it. I don’t know if it was done on purpose or if I’m going all ‘English teacher’ on this but..uh yeah.

I disappeared for a long time— tbh I was just too lazy to actually do anything, but I found out about how many good Dokhyuk moments were eradicated in the ebook version and so I decided to write more Dokhyuk moments in anger and rage.

There’s so many good things we won’t see in the Webtoon ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´ω`ﾟ)ﾟ｡

The kkoma Yoo Joonghyuk number [999] polishing his [Heaven Shaking Sword] atop my shoulder grumbled softly. “Your driving sucks.”

I know it isn’t our Yoo Joonghyuk but still.

Right after I went past the Gate, I was greeted by the rainbow-coloured aura swirling around, followed by the guide message as well as an accompanying video.

Rainbow for the gays.

[Player 1-nim says that ‘It’s fine if it’s a Murim dumpling’.]

Is player 1-nim Yoo Joonghyuk…? I forgor.

“By the way, you must really like Murim dumplings?”

“Yes, I do.”

“…..An ahjussi I know also really likes them, too.”

I knew well who she was talking about there.

I may have skipped a few parts after this one because this has been sitting in my drafts for 77 days 💀.

A heavy-sounding tone of voice came out from inside the carrier. It seemed to contain this surprising power to change the mood of the surrounding atmosphere with just a single word.

I swallowed my saliva and walked up to the kids.

For sure, calling a face like that ‘Yogoe’ didn’t seem all that out of place. Because, well, it was inconceivable that a normal human would be blessed with such looks, after all. —?

Eyebrows seemingly drawn by a single, uninterrupted stroke of a famed artist’s brush; a nose and a chin shaped in perfect angles that defied attempts to measure them through mere devices of men; a pair of deep eyes seemingly carved out of a beautiful jewel containing all the misfortunes found in this world.

If someone saw those features and not get immediately drawn in by them, then there must be something wrong with that person.

Dokja, you have something to tell us?

“Shin Yoosung! What are standing around dazed for?! Quickly defeat this guy!!”

Lee Gilyoung, still dangling in the air, began to thrash about frantically.

Gilyoung is adorable.

“Zhu Bajie is not our enemy.”

Yi Gil-Yeong’s eyes went extra-round after he heard me. He even looked disappointed for some reason. “Whaaat? Dang it….”

Gilyoung’s constant antagonizing Yoo Joonghyuk reminds me of Louis and Sherlock from Moriarty the Patriot. It’s adorable.

Yoo Joonghyuk stepped forward and suddenly brandished the [Dark Heavenly Demon Sword] in my direction, then drew a very tiny circle on the ground around my feet.

“You do not step beyond this line.”

“Eh?”

“Move one step, and I’ll kill you.”

Bwhahaha

His sword technique on display was beautiful enough to entrance the viewers. His swordsmanship had taken yet another major leap forward when compared to before, making it impossible to imagine just how far he had to push himself to reach such a realm.

The fact that almost all of his new found strength came from training due to Dokja’s disappearance—

I ended up worrying about him and so, I had to say something. “Excuse me, Junior Brother. Why don’t you walk closer to us?”

“….And who’s your ‘junior’ now?”

That idiot glared back at me with incredibly intimidating eyes and I couldn’t say anything else.

“The idiot” awwww~

⸢In that moment, Kim Dokja

I think this said something important, but my dumbass deleted the rest of the text in accident ;-;

Yi Gil-Yeong wordlessly tossed a pebble inside the campfire, while Shin Yu-Seung nervously studied Yu Jung-Hyeok’s and my current moods, her fingers fidgeting around with the soil on the ground.

It was then we heard the sound of a stomach growling loudly. Yi Gil-Yeong frowned tearfully and rubbed his belly.

“I’m starving….”

I grinned slightly and pulled something out from my inner pocket. “Would you like some dumplings?”

When dad and dad are fighting but you’re hungry, so they stop their fight to feed you:

And very slowly, so very slowly, as if he was studying his new enemy, brought the dumpling near his nose.

“….This aroma??”

That’s right, eat that damn dumpling, you bastard.

Okay waifu~ I mean-. Ahem.

“….It’s not that bad, I suppose.”

I heard Yoo Joonghyuk’s nearly-inaudible muttering and quietly looked up at the sky. The stars of the night sky sparkled as they looked down at us, as if the destruction of the world was a story belonging to a distant realm.

While chewing the dumpling, I began thinking this for the first time. That I wouldn’t have minded this story going on for a little while longer.

Yoo Joonghyuk being a Tsundere.

Sun Wukong used his arm as his pillow and began snoring away, and as for the pair of Tang Sanzangs, they used each of the Monkey King’s legs as their own pillows to sleep as well. They must’ve been fatigued by the journey.

However, a shadow quietly stood up, utilising this dead of night where the messages from the audience members and the judges had disappeared temporarily.

This can either be very intimidating or very sweet—like a father watching his family sleep peacefully as he guards for the night. In reality, he was about to kill Dokja, but we won’t talk about that.

[You can’t complete this universe.]

It was a gigantic wall that Yoo Joonghyuk couldn’t go past with his power. But he still instinctively understood it.

‘Past this wall is where I’ll find the answer I’ve been looking for.’

Am I the only one who thought ‘it’s because you don’t have your other half with you?’

⸢Kim Dokja thought to himself. ‘I’m Yoo Joonghyuk.’⸥

I bit my lips and formed the expression similar to the coolest person that I knew.

“Coolest person that I knew” awwwww

And then, Yoo Joonghyuk was standing before me as if to shield me. He glared at the sky, and pointed the [Dark Heavenly Demon Sword] scattering electrical energy at the opponent.

“I won’t say this twice. Scram.”

He protecc, he attacc, he has a wide and lonely bacc.

Yoo Joonghyuk discarded my wrist like trash and stood up from the spot. “….We’ve wasted precious elixirs.” —

Lee Jihye, watching that, spoke to me. “My Master, no wait, my Senior Brother is really cool, isn’t he? Even though he’s saying that, he was the first person to recommend using elixirs on you.”

That Tsundere fuck—

“Joonghyuk-ahjussi.”

He looked back at her with his trademark disinterested eyes, and her small hand pressed against his cheek. Upon closer inspection, a cream-type ointment was applied there.

“….What are you doing?”

“Be still or it’ll get infected, you know. Ah, don’t turn your head!”

Father-Daughter bonding- I’m gonna sob

She looked at me with distant eyes before shaking her head with a smirk.

[Well, yeah, you wouldn’t know anything about how awesome the ‘Demon King of Salvation’ actually is.]

I thought about it for a little while, before speaking up with a voice overflowing with affection towards, uh, myself.

Notice how he uses she/her pronouns now >-<. We don’t talk about Hayoung and Dokja’s relationship enough.

As things stood, I couldn’t really tell apart whether we were in the [Journey to the West] or [Kim Dokja Company’s Disorganised Great Adventure Get-Together].

Not a moment but it’s hilarious so I’ll include it.

Perhaps he noticed the direction of my gaze, Yoo Joonghyuk suddenly began talking to me. “….Surely, you fool must’ve realised this. You can’t save everyone.”

Those words hurt especially more so because they came from Yoo Joonghyuk himself.

For some reason, this feels very familiar. I’m not sure how, but it feels like I’ve read a romance novel where the male lead says the exact same thing to the girl. Or was it the other way around..?

Yoo Joonghyuk unsheathed his [Dark Heavenly Demon Sword] once more and stood in front of us, wary of his new opponent.

He protecc, he attacc, he carries burdens on his bacc

Yoo Joonghyuk and I each grabbed Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung, and flung ourselves into the river. Along with the explosive noise of the Tongtian itself blowing up, our phantom ship shattered and sunk beneath the water. —-We found debris floating on the river’s surface and managed to barely grab hold of it.

“Woo-ehck! Hey, I can survive by myself, so let me go!”

Lee Gilyoung kicked around and shouted out.

Parents. They are parents. Divorced parents.

Yoo Joonghyuk unsheathed his sword and stepped forward. He glanced at me as he did so. “Take the kids away and acquire the sacred texts.”

That prompted Lee Gilyoung to shout out as if he was having a breakdown. “Who’s taking who here?! I….!”

The boy’s lips snapped shut after he sensed Yoo Joonghyuk emitting his Status.

His jet-black coat danced in the air. It was as if he had suddenly transformed into a black hole; his back faced us as he stood there against the lights shining from 28 stars. That was the back of a man who had been silently protecting certain people.

I want someone to describe me like how Dokja describes Joonghyuk.

I nodded my head and replied. “Do your best.”

“Get going!”

Sacrificial spouse trope vibes.

He failed to comprehend the situation and was about to shout out, but before he could, I placed my hand on top of his head first.

“You understand? Gilyoung-ah.”

And that marks the end of the chapter.
