hey i want you to know i love your ocs and your story so much and it's consuming my brain right now. i almost made ocs for it until my brain reminded me that this is an au that belongs to someone else and not an actual story franchise and that it might be weird to make ocs based off someone else's au without asking first

also i support women's wrongs but i also want to throw cinder blocks at dune. i hate love her so much ❤️

awww thank you thats so nice actually for real!!! you can make characters using my au setting, it is based (very very loosely) off canon and the characters ARE all my ocs afterall, lmao!!

ive been meaning to make a post infodumping about how the mobile iterator puppets work and just explaining the scenario of the au i just havent got around to it lmaoooo

ive been loosely toying with scripting the off string au as a comic ive been calling exodus, and i had a really rough day so i sketched some self indulgent chapter covers and enders! for the chapter covers id draw something relevant but not toooo spoilery, and for the last pages of chapters id do a shot of the current state of silly squad from behind

i drew the first three chapters, then the kidnapping chapter, then the space gets beat up really really bad chapter. none of these chapter names are final, for the space gets beat up one i couldnt decide between "colour" or "real again". still not sure idk idk

sorry these are all post dunedeath but thats the whimsy ive got on my brain right now! im also sorry if anyone was at all emotionally attatched to whimsy wearing ugly orange but i like the black better i think. this is a little bit of a redesign. wasnt happy with her idk if i am still... explodes. she still has the green king mask but it explodes when odyssey throws that grav bomb so she gets a new one

i cant find it now (maybe i answered it???) but a while ago i got an ask about a role swap au of off string and at first i mostly brushed it off but it is ALL i can fucking think about today

rivers has weaponized his shocks (this causes him IMMENSE pain) and is collecting cells in an attempt to wake the demolishers up so he can use them to destroy the twins. at one point dune and her siblings come get phrases

phrases only really stayed with rivers and helped him because together theyd been betrayed and phrases was so, so afraid of being alone. and they loved rivers so deeply. and they were desperate theyd see good in him again. but he just keeps getting worse and this space guy insists on helping them. and they really, really dont want to hurt anyone anymore

with phrases gone rivers goes all-in with his plan. he murders glass, who was off string, then using a couple demolishers he was able to revive he brings down nights' structure as well. now he roams the wastes, looking for every iterator who didn't help him, hoping that this time it will finally be the thing to make him feel whole again

I know you have a ton of asks and I won't feel bad if you don't respond or just DM a response but, for drawing reasons, what sort of stuff would be in your off-sting Iterators head? I assume some sensory processing stuff and maybe the voice box but I'm not sure what that would look like or if there'd be something else

It's always wild seeing post-dune space because that's mostly my design, not like I don't like you using it, it's just kinda surreal seeing a favorite artist drawing a design I made.

Was reading through your AU stuff again and came up with some more questions

What was Phrases and Rivers experience going over the mountains? Since in the map showed them going over the divide instead of through the chasms.

Would Phrases have some days where they wouldn't able to get water for themselves while escaping Dune?

i sketched a little comic about them sleeping in a shelter one night crossing the mountain range (actual answer below i wanted the image to be visible over the cut lol)

going over the divide was difficult for the two, not because of creatures but because of the cold! the cold can be very harmful to them just like the heat can. the real danger of the cold is becoming TOO cold and having your pipes freeze. if this isnt fixed the rest of them freezes (so long as they stay in the cold), but if theyre warmed up they can be alright, and they would have to be exposed for days before it got that bad. its still uncomfortable and inconvenient though, and a much longer trip as well. vultures and some alpine lizards would be a problem as well

as for the water thing, i think they would have prioritized finding enough water while escaping, because if they dont stay cooled they will overheat and quickly slow down. they needed to stay as fit and strong as possible. they stay low to the ground during their escape, and with the frequent rain finding water isnt TOO hard on the surface

I love space so much, would he and Rivers end up bonding a bit over both missing limbs?

yes, they become spar buddies to learn to adapt to their limbs together! (also because rivers is pathetic in battle and space doesn't trust him not to get killed lol)

ive drawn them sparring on paper a couple times but i dont want to find the right sketchbook and take pictures so i just did some new doodles instead lmao

i think rivers should get a sword

space feels a responsibility to make sure everyone in the group would be okay in a combat situation because back in dune's group the job of assessing everyone and understanding their skills fell mostly on him. its instinct for them to analyze the people around them (this analysis also extended to dune when they were with her, space often served as a mediator between dune and her rage lmao)

Space is suddenly thrown into a panic, so Phrases helps them ground themself.

hellooooooooooo this wasnt an excuse to draw phrases and space cuddling. no of course not. i think the flickering blue light flung them into a flashback regarding dunes attack since the flashing is similar to the power given off by her spear. flashbacks can be caused by even very small triggers which is something i think space unfortunately struggles with pretty often. theyve got a good support system now though <3 phrases speaks pretty repetitively at points here- they're aware that space isnt mentally in the present and they're asserting what they know to help. sometimes you have to repeat yourself many times for someone in a panic to hear you or really process what youre telling them
