warnings: no eternals spoilers, druig is a softie who else guessed, and reader is referred as persephone but is an eternal.

ANCIENT GREECE, 750 BC

With the soft gentle breeze of air, your chiton tunic flew against the wind. The breeze caressing the apples of your cheek with a smile before you turned to Sersi who then gifted you with a grin.

Her long onyx locks danced with the wind, while mocking your own, she seem unfazed while you grinned ear to ear while aiding Athenians in their crops for the summer.

In tow, your hands become brown, finger tips burrow and saturated in grainy dirty that has it found its own little home in the safety of your magical hands. You suppose you can’t blame nature, after all, you nurture such Earth and the occupants you call humans.

While hands buried into the Earth, a slight second passes before you gift the Athenians their crop for the summer. Their wheat for the bread and their grapevines for their wine.

They ever look so enchanted in your powers. While celestial and all, immortal and whatnot, the Athenians insist on seeing you as something more than the Eternal you know yourself.

With their wonderful creative minds, they join in the storytelling of your family’s existence on Earth. You don’t blame them, that was the mere thing you adored about humans and their character, their expressive nature to share and grow alongside each other.

You pull yourself from the ground before your mind wanders far and wide. On most occasions, you can’t help but feel the way they do, their love, their concern, and their flaws for each other.

But today is a busy day. Phastos is introducing a new advancement in their technology and out of all the seasons you’ve created, from your favourite; spring to summer, you can’t help but fawn over the new technological beginnings that was waiting for the Athenians.

As you return to the Domo with dirtied feet and hands with nevertheless, a smile wide on your face, you’re welcomed by the Prime Eternal who’s eyes are wide in pleasure to see you.

“I’m glad you can make it, my dear Perse.”

She cups your cheeks in her hands, her lips quirked ever so large before she leans in and hugs you. “Go on and prepare yourself.”

When you stride across the Domo, finding a spot much near to Druig, the mind controller took notice of your presence and captured his gaze on you.

It took him a moment to move, but when he did, inching close to where you stood, he had a bashful grin on his pink lips.

“Well, if isn’t the ravishing Kore.”

You flushed under his tone, while clear and vocal, it was soft and hushed, exclusive only for your wonderful ears.

“You know that’s not my name, Druig.”

He cocked his head at you, cerulean eyes sparkling with mischief while his lips quirked into a wider grin. He reaches out a hand, a finger twirling a stray lock of your hair around his knuckle before letting it fall against your cheek.

“True,” he shrugged, then fluttered his eyes as he inched himself closer and closer to your side, “but they are no less right with their stories about you.”

You giggled at his words, then shook your head at the playful antics he was pulling on you. He’s always been like this. While most of the time, brooding or eating in the corner of the room, he pulled himself close whenever your presence was around.

Sersi claimed he liked you, more than a friend or a family member should. While Sprite teased you about it through the ways of her captivating illusions. However, you didn’t find the need to entertain their odd fantasies about your relationship with the mind controller.

“And what do they say about me, Hades?”

“Ah,” he nods along at your rebuttal, his lips twitching to refrain from grinning wide, “so you’ve heard.”

You mock him with a shrug of your shoulders. The man in front of you finally breaking himself free from the confinements of his pride as he smiles at you.

“I’ve heard stories.”

He hums, head swaying as he stared you down from where he stood. The rest of the Eternals were too captivated by Phastos quirking his own technology to find Druig creating a flush of embarrassment rush to your cheek. But you suppose that has always been his thing.

“Any of them about the beautiful, beautiful Persephone?” Druig raised a brow your way and you couldn’t help but feel bashful. That was certain as warmth flooded the apples of your cheeks and entertainment shone in his eyes. “They’re all so absolutely smitten with the goddess of Spring that I almost can’t help but agree.”

“You speak in tongues, Druig.” you shake your head at him and nearly push him off with a palm flat against his chest if it weren’t for the way he pulls you ever so close by the wrist. “You know they’re just the figment of the human imagination.”

“Mmh, maybe.” He tilts his head to the side, a sound of disagreement in his tone while his thumb caressed the protruding bone from your wrist. “But I don’t think something as simple as the human imagination could ever captivate the entirety of your beauty, my dear.”

Silence engulfs you and your mouth stitches close. You don’t say anything when you stare at him and neither does Druig. It’s that agreement between unspoken tongues, he knows, you know, yet both won’t act on it.

You’re thankful for when Kingo calls for your name. While his brows are furrowed in confusion and faux disgust, your focus is merely on him now.

“We’re about to start.”

You step away from Druig, now a space evident between the two of you as he shares his grin with you, and only you.

You suppose he’s right about one thing. You’re absolutely smitten with each other.
