I like the transmasc Duster headcanon a lot. Please take this questioning/closeted younger Duster
I feel like questioning is rarely ever talked about even though it's one of the most important stages to finding out you're trans. Here's some artwork in celebration of that :)

Regarding the time/ages of Mother 3 Characters...
HUGE SPOILER WARNING!
This is all pretty obvious stuff, but I've been thinking for a long while about the ages of the Mother 3 (main/main-ish) characters. So, using canonical facts and assumptions from visual clues, here's my guess on the age of the Mother 3 main characters, including my guess on how long the Tazmilians have been in the village:
I'm going to start with Kumatora first, because she has the most information on her age:
Leder states that Kumatora was an infant when they arrived to the island on the white ship.
Within the original Japanese Mother 3 debug room, Kumatora and Lucas's age can be fast-forwarded (The prompt is applied to both, so this may be inaccurate). The game gives you two choices for this: 少年 (Shounen: 5-14 years old) and 青年 (Seinen: 15-24 years old). (I found these age ranges here if you are curious!)
It should also be noted that Kumatora's sprite changes to be taller in Chapter 4 and onwards, so we can assume in chapter 2 that she's not done growing yet. (Or she could just be wearing platformers in chapter 4. Who knows?)
Before pulling the sixth needle, Ionia tells Kumatora that she's "The prettiest she's ever been now".
So, a rough age range for Kumatora could be 12-14 years old pre-timeskip and 15-17 years old post-timeskip. She could be older judging from her Club Titiboo appearance but that's up for debate whether she lied about her age or not.
Oh yeah, she's also been living on the Nowhere Islands for as long as she has lived :)
Moving on to Lucas/Claus:
They were both born roughly 4+ years after the white ship reached the Nowhere Islands, judging from Kumatora's age range.
According to the Mother 3 fandom wiki, Lucas/Claus's ages in the unreleased Earthbound 64 were going to be 7 pre-timeskip. However, this may only apply to the 64 version as it was originally planned to have a 10-year time skip.
Lucas/Claus's post-time skip sprites are similar to Ness's, who is 12 years old in Mother 2 and 13 years old in Earthbound.
In unused text found on the cutting room floor, a receptionist refers to presumably Lucas as "Little boy." This could have just been a ploy by Porky to further degrade Lucas and gang, however.
Meaning that Lucas/Claus's ages could be 7-10 years old pre-timeskip and 10-13 years old post-timeskip.
Since they were born after everyone came to Tazmily not much to say about when they came.
Now Duster:
Duster's a little hard to guess, but we do have some general clues, the obvious ones posted on the wiki:
His dad, Wess, is very old, judging from the way the villagers exclude him from dangerous situations because of his age.
He has facial hair and is very tall, along with having a unique face shape similar to some of the adult male characters.
A pigmask soldier notes that Duster seems "drunk," meaning that he's probably old enough/looks to be old enough to drink alcohol. (The legal age to drink alcohol in Japan is 20 years old.)
His sprite does not change post-timeskip.
Now, here are some things not mentioned on the wiki:
One of the zombies that Duster fights in Chapter 2 says, "Oh my! Ggg... Is that you, Duster?! My, how you've gggggrown!" One other zombie also refers to Duster by name. If the memories the zombies have aren't fabricated, this implies one of two things: That Duster probably arrived to the islands at a much younger age, and that Tazmily has already dealt with death, albeit not tragic death.
Duster refers to himself as "俺 (Ore)", which is used a lot by Japanese males casually (Most people just use 僕 (Boku) or 私 (Watashi)), but this doesn't really matter as Kumatora also refers to herself as 俺 because she's a tomboy girlboss
A lot of the younger adult villagers are quite casual with Duster, compared to Flint, who most of them are very respectful to. (Respecting elders and all that.)
It's implied by one of the villagers that he may be balding in the Japanese version (I forget who though.)
So, Duster's age range is much wider: Pre-timeskip could be 18-30 years old and post-timeskip could be 21-33.
Using Kumatora's age, we can assume that Duster arrived on the Nowhere Islands at around 6-16 years old.
Onto Flint:
We get pretty vague clues on his age, so let's just go off of those B)
He has facial hair, and like Duster, his face shape is unique like most other adult male characters and he's relatively tall.
He's known Lighter since he was a kid, and Lighter seems to have grayish hair along with a son of his own.
He's bald as a bean. 53% of men lose some of their hair at around 45 years old (Source is here), but it can occur at any age. To add on to this, it can be noted that Flint is bald pre-timeskip- The little popping down animation he does after you choose something for him to do in a battle is proof of this. (However, in Mother 64, he was planned to go bald after the 10 year timeskip in this version.)
He doesn't have gray hair, which indicates that he's probably younger than 60 years. Sure, while an argument could be made that people of any adult age could get gray hair, people under middle-age might have gray hair because of stress or genetics. Considering that Flint doesn't particularly live a stressless life and still has dark brown hair, you get what I mean.
He's a father of two. Not much else to say there.
We know that he's been on the Nowhere islands for at least 11 years pre-timeskip because Hinawa presumably gave birth to the twins 4+ years after they arrived.
So we can assume that he could be anywhere between 30-50 years old pre-timeskip and 33-53 years old post-timeskip. :)
Flint arrived on the Nowhere Islands pretty young. Around 18-36 years old.
Hinawa:
Hinawa's age is kinda hard to find. Even though she's a pretty major character story-wise, we know barely anything about her other than she's nice, pretty and Lucas and Claus's mother.
We can just sort of assume she's around Flint's age (Maybe a tad younger?) and arrived at the island at the same age Flint did.
If I'm missing something please let me know.
Boney time:
Well, he is a dog, and he's a pretty energetic dog, so he's probably older than a puppy but younger than an elder.
I read some forums that said he might be a chocolate lab, whose lifespans are 10-12+ years old.
He's unheard of in the flashback of baby Lucas and Claus (In the final fight) so he probably came after them.
He's pretty energetic and can use the full extent of his brain, so he's probably at peak age.
From this, we can assume Boney is 1-3 years old pre-timeskip and 4-6 years old post-timeskip. Since Boney is very young, he is most likely only a descendant of dogs that were brought over from the old world.
Salsa Monke Time:
He is Monke!
He has a girlfriend which implies that he is at mating age. Depending on the species of monkey, this could be anywhere from 2-8 years old.
That's all I can really go off of ;-; I might be missing something though. Do let me know if I am!
So we can assume that Salsa could be anywhere between 2-8 years old pre-timeskip to 5-11 years old post-timeskip. I'm not sure if Salsa is a native to the Nowhere Islands, but looking at the unused attract mode there is a cutscene where he's seen in Murasaki forest.

A lot of the townspeople (Particularly the older women and old men) in the Japanese version tell Duster that he's grown up a lot! This backs up my theory that Duster arrived at 6-16 years old.

You know what I always found fascinating? So in the Japanese version Duster is called both "Uncle" (おじさん) and "Big Brother" (にいさん) by the kids in the village.
I have a headcanon that whenever a kid got lost in the forest at night Duster would go find them and bring them back
I've always been curious as to what Duster's mom looked like. Surely his stocky build doesn't come from Wess, right?
I imagine her as a tall, skilled lady who was the original creator of the wall staple technique. Maybe the whole thief thing came from her? It would be cool to see different interpretations.

I've always wondered this in the past, but what do you guys think Duster sounds like?
I'm working on some concept art for my Pre-Mother 3 theory right now and I'm getting a little bored, so here's some mother 3 headcanons.
(Spoiler warning!) (Also major Duster favoritism)
Lucas
Terrible at socializing, but still loved for being able to listen.
Unintentionally sneaky. That one kid who's always lurking around.
Smells like cinnamon toast crunch.
Sees Claus in Kumatora.
Something about Duster reminds him of Hinawa. Gets very sentimental whenever he hugs him.
Swears very, very rarely. Someone or something is in a massive amount of danger when he does.
People mistake him for being emotionless when in reality he bottles everything up. When he does finally open the bottle he becomes a massive mess. (Note: Self projection (●'◡'●))
Cleans to distract himself.
Once recieved a comic book from a tourist. Was fascinated by it for a short while but threw it away the same day he got it.
Much stronger than he looks. Taking care of sheep has strengthened him significantly.
Has conflicted feelings about his dad.
Worries if he too will start to bald when he gets older.
Kumatora
I feel like if she was real she'd be into gyaru fashion.
Enjoys doing excessive makeup as a hobby but would only wear eyeliner at max regularly.
Absolutely despised her time working at Club Titiboo but became close friends with the other waitresses. Had considered using her paychecks for a phone to communicate with them once she left.
Got the color of her hair from all the years of PSI training with Ionia. Originally brown-haired.
Was a massive scaredy-cat through the ages of 6 to 9.
Incredible mealtime etiquette. (Ionia's doing)
Her blue pendant originally belonged to her biological parents.
A preteen Duster rescued her from a collapsed building as an infant pre-white ship.
Sprays Duster with perfume to wake him up.
Has dabbled in playing the electric guitar. Gets lessons from Magic in exchange for PSI lightshows.
Sees Duster as an older brother figure. Bullies him relentlessly.
Sees Lucas as a younger brother figure. Dotes on him relentlessly.
Studies other PSI users to improve her own PSI.

Duster
Was surprisingly hot-headed as a kid. Mellowed out as he aged.
Used to have longer hair as a kid but cut most of it off as it interfered with training. Has thought about regrowing it.
His receding hairline is due to stress. After he joined DCMC it started to (slowly) grow back (With the help of some borrowed hair products).
Is clairvoyant in a non-PSI way. Gave Lucas the mini-mini charm before he embarked for Osohe as he knew the kid would be lonely from then on.
Is in a hidden poly relationship with the rest of the band.
Takes care of his afro wig better than he does his actual hair.
He actually wrote lyrics for many of DCMC's songs. A majority of them went unused.
Thinks of Lucas as his legacy and as such never plans on having kids.
Was the one who named Kumatora. Because he was a preteen at the time, he gave her the wildest name he could think of.
Gets frequent nightmares of his pre-white ship days, but completely forgets about them the moment he wakes up.
Is covered head-to-toe in scars and calluses.
Is deemed the most attractive out of the DCMC members. He's heavily against having the title.
Gets incredibly dangerous when drunk (Yor Forger-style drunkard).
Ate ants once because he was tricked into thinking they tasted like cherries.
Was absolutely feral as a teenager. People would only come across him if they were out foraging in the forest.
Many children label him as a Tazmily cryptid. Multiple supernatural rumours about him exist.
Boney
Imagines itself as the twins' third sibling instead of a pet.
Missed Flint the most out of everyone.

On another note, you are completely welcome to call me crazy but I think Splatoon is a potential continuation of the Mother series timeline. I'll probably write a ridiculously long theory on this later but for now I'll leave it at that.
