There are two ways of spreading light:
To be the candle or the mirror that reflects it

I just bought Age of Innocence & Summer by EW - which one should I start with? 👀
omg omg so
Start with Age of Innocence because the dynamic between Archer and May and Ellen is so *chef's kiss* torture. Her commentary on love and society and duty and family expectations - ouch.
But also so you can say you read the first book to win a woman a Pulitzer!
And then you can watch the movie version! Which is really, really good.
But also because I haven't read Summer so I have no opinions on that one haha
may i present you

“I have sometimes thought that a woman’s nature is like a great house full of rooms: there is a hall, through which everyone passes, going in and out; the drawing room, where one receives formal visits; the sitting room, where members of the family come and go as they list; but beyond that, far beyond, are other rooms, the hands of whose doors are perhaps never touched; no one knows the way to them, no one knows whither they lead; and in the innermost room, the soul sits alone and waits.”
— Edith Wharton, The Ghost Stories (via heteroglossia)
“I swear I only want to hear about you, to know what you’ve been doing. It’s a hundred years since we’ve met- it may be another hundred years before we meet again.”
— Edith Wharton

Love me. But don't tell me so.
