I couldn't wait until Saturday to update my fictions, I ended up updating them today.

Sneak peek of "Of monsters and revenge" chapter 24

Of monsters and revenge is my work in progress fiction. It tells the story of a young drow who is captured and tortured by surface dwellers, but finds a chance to get revenge once the raiding party he was acting as a scout for succeeds.

Only he gets a lot more than he hoped for when his sister gifts him a high elf named Aelar.

Here's a snippet of the chapter that will be published this Friday:

The captive’s disarming innocence has a way of effortlessly drawing Maszenkain in, of making him care so much for the elf that it is frightening for it almost reverses the roles, compelling him to do Aelar’s bidding if it means having his desire reciprocated. His thoughts briefly turn darker as he considers the implications of his growing attachment, the desire to protect the captive a source of vulnerability in itself – a weakness that can be exploited by those who seek to manipulate, or worse, coerce him.  He walks closer to the bed, briefly considering the option of waking the elf up and reminding him who is – or at least should be – in control, whose will should be catered to, whose requests should be heeded. Then again, even if Aelar is indeed trying to manipulate him – which doesn’t seem to be the case, but it is a possibility he is unwilling to discard – there is some benefit to letting the elf think it is working.  However, his most important concern at the moment is nipping Nyloth’s attempt to coerce him into an even worse deal at the bud, and his best shot of doing it is confronting that which he had been trying to avoid, if not to protect Aelar, to protect himself: he can’t afford to be a victim of Nyloth’s blackmail, even if it means being blamed for what he was subjected to and punished for tarnishing the reputation of his family by being unable to defend himself.

A reader made a (NSFW) drawing of one of my characters and I'm over the freaking moon because of it

This drawing of Adran (after going through rough times in Nyloth's hands) in "Of monsters and revenge" was made by one of my readers, and I couldn't be happier! Having readers that are so invested in the story and so involved with it is one of my greatest joys.
