It is not out of the blue that he is an army leader. It pretty obviously happend in the Christmas special '05. And guess what, after Tord left the house ,He wasnt with Edd. What happens in Christmas special, Edd wasnt around Tord, if he wasss That somehow manages to intervene him becoming an overlord of some short.
