Fablehaven Fairy Theory

Hello! I was talking to someone the other day, and they mentioned that if fairies are always depicted as flying upright, and that just doesn’t work with the real world. So I thought of a theory about how it might!

First off, have you ever seen how a hummingbird flies? It goes around like a regular bird, horizontally, until it reaches a flower. There, it begins to hover, flying upright, and in all directions including backwards.

Maybe fairies fly the same way- horizontally until they reach their destination, and then they just... hover. But their wing-to-body ratio is designed so they they don’t have to flap as much. I feel like the fairies would be kinda out out if their wings were fluttering too much to be seen.
