Fairy Politics Even More So - Tumblr Posts

Wait what if the Ministers of the Seasons were like Mainland ministers? What if they were actually elected?

The Minister of Spring is obviously the ‘rules are there for a reason’-kind of guy, the more strict of the quartet. His main point is law enforcement and he deeply believes that strict adherence to the law makes for a safer and more organised Pixie Hollow.

The Minister of Summer is the most liberal of the Ministers, believing in ‘living and letting be’ and that fairy society will function without much (government) interference, which occasionally puts her at odds with the Minister of Spring (or, well, he is at odds with her, she just brushes it off). Her main point is health care, which has come surprisingly far under her (limited) guidance.

The Minister of Autumn’s main point is economy (or however it will be called in Pixie Hollow). He stands a bit in the middle between the Ministers of Spring and Summer, with his rational attitude towards his tasks. He doesn’t completely let the fairies roam free, but instead of dictating them he likes to tell them their goals and let them decide for themselves how to go about it.

The Minister of Winter isn’t afraid to share her opinion on any subject, and she’s the only one of the quartet who will butt heads with Queen Clarion if she thinks she should (luckily, those instances are very rare). While the other Ministers tend to look at the details and their fairies’ feelings, she looks at the greater good. Though this regularly leads to lengthy discussions with the other Ministers, they are glad for the different perspective she provides. Her main point is defence, and under her supervision the Scout fairies have become a force to be reckoned with.

Fairy Mary acts as the chairfairy (chairy?) of the Council, kind of like that guy in the British Parliament whose main job is to shout “Order!”. She relishes this function.

Nobody exactly understands where Lord Milori came from and how he became part of the Council. He’s not doing a bad job, but his very attendance is mystery.

Of course, as Pixie Hollow is a monarchy, the Council acts as an advisory organ for Queen Clarion, though she never does anything the Council disapproves of (I like to think there are actual rules in place to prevent a Queen from becoming a tyrant like that). I’ll probably make a dedicated post about the Pixie Hollow monarchy system, though, as I have some issues with that.

And of course I could take this idea further. If the Ministers were elected, there may be fairy parties. How would those work? Does every talent have their own party? How far would that go, would there be like fifteen parties for all the main talents or can there be a dedicated Wing-washing talent party? Is anyone free to start a party from a specific viewpoint? What parties would the current Ministers come from? Are they elected for life, or for a certain period of time (which would explain why the Minister of Winter was replaced by Lord Milori in Secret of the Wings, which I personally disagree with)? Is Fairy Mary elected?
