Calums pov (Cal Age: 7 Luke age: 9)

——

It was a scientific fact that most Kitten hybrids, and most bird hybrids didn’t get along. They were just two very different species of animals. But Calum and Luke proved that theory wrong.

They were both at the same park on the same day by themselves a few years back their families both lived straight across the street from it so their parents had no worries when t came to the boys going missing. They were minding there own business neither of them playing with any of the other kids when Calum could help but smell the tuna in the air. It was a strong scent and the tiny boy hadn’t realized how hungry he had been.

His ears perked up as he smelled the air trying to figure out where it was coming from. He followed the scent completely abandoning the sand box he was playing in, and his favorite action figure. He walked sniffing out all the different scents that he could until he found himself in a little hut thing with small picnic tables in it. He looked around hearing a blonde boy gigging a little to his right.

“Hello little kitten.” The blonde said causing Calum to blush bright red as he looked over at the tuna sandwich that hadn’t been bitten yet. “Would you like some?” The blonde asked holding out half of the sandwich. Calum was confused at first because he didn’t see any part of Luke that would signal what type of hybrid he was and his mother told him to watch out for two specific kinds Dogs, and Birds.

Calum knew that he probably shouldn’t have taken the offer from the stranger even if he didn’t look very much older but he was transfixed on the idea of getting to take a bite of that delicious tuna.

He walked over to the slightly bigger boy taking in his nice features. He was taller then Calum not by much, with pale skin, blue eyes that felt as though they were trapping Calum in a sea storm, and blonde hair. He plopped down next to the boy grabbing the sandwich out of his hands. Right when he was about to take a small bite of it Luke turned to grab his juice and Calum saw the pretty white wings that slowly faded into a pale blue as they went  down on Luke back.

Calum let out a tiny gasp causing the boy in front of him to whip his head around and his wings to shoot open. They were beautiful and Calum could barley help himself from reaching out and stroking the wings. But his mommy told him that he shouldn’t be around bird hybrids because they may try to hurt him. He placed the tuna sandwich down and started to back up slowly from the boy.

“Where are you going?” The blonde asked Calum. Calm saw the hurt look in the blondes eyes, and the sad expression written across his face.

“M-y mommy told m-me that…um I shouldn’t play with bird hybrids.” Calum stuttered out. He was never the best at talking to strangers.

“Please stay, my mommy taught me that I have to treat everyone nicely no matter what type of hybrid they are. I wont hurt you I promise.” Luke said reaching his hand out for the smaller boy to grab.

Calum looked at it rethinking what his mother had said. Maybe not all Birds are bad in fact he was taking a very strong liking to the blonde boy in front of him. He smiled at him taking the pale hand in his own and sitting back down cuddling up to the boy next to him. He was a very big on cuddling.

“Can I t-touch them?” Calum asked hearing the blonde laugh.

“Yeah. My name is Luke by the way. Whats yours kitten?” Luke asked using the nickname that Calum was starting to sincerely enjoy.

“C-calum.” Calum mumbled as he reached out stroking Luke’s feathers. They were soft, and almost silky to the touch. They had a very calming affect towards them and Calum couldn’t help from wanting to rub his face against them. “They are v-very lovely.” Calum said blushing bright red at the comment that slipped out of his mouth. Luke smiled down at Calum handing the boy back half the tuna sandwich.

“I know my mommy tells me that all the time.” Luke always enjoyed flattery and was very confident about his wings. He reached his hands out to Calums tiny little ears on top of his head stroking them as Calum started to nibble away at his sandwich purring at Luke’s touch.

Calums instinct was to wrap his long tail around Luke’s waist as his body yearned for more of Luke’s touches. Calum loved when people played with his ears. He let out a significantly loud purr as Luke’s other hand stroked his tail. Luke laughed a little causing Calum to hide behind his hands as his face heat up, and a smile broke out on his lips.

“Aww kitten don’t hide behind your hands I want to see you pretty little smile.” Luke said as he moved Calums hands away and admired the pretty boys face in all its glory.

And in that moment Calum decided that even though Luke was a bird hybrid his mom was definitely wrong, because Luke was definitely not that bad.
