I fucking love fairy tales, but I hate how they are always portrayed these days as cheap edgy horrors or more-cutesy-than-Disney type of stories.

Fairy tales are more than cute damsels in peril singing with woodland creatures or boogeyman stories to force naughty children to behave, they are timeless magical surreal stories told through over generations.

They are about characters that found themselves in a world where everything can happen, having to learn, having to grow up, having to find their place and their happy ending.

They are about children escaping manipulative parents, young girls becoming women, oppressed people finally finding justice, and in some cases, lovable rogues having lucky. These old folk tales are sometimes dark, but they are beautiful in communicating universal themes and mythological motiffs in simple short stories.
