She gazed at the sky with her big, doe eyes sparkling like the stars that littered the sky as her brown almost black, shoulder length hair was slightly swaying along with the gentle breeze of the night. Her hands were caressing the soft fur of the cat that was curled up on her lap, sleeping soundly.
Her mind was currently filled with the thoughts of how the night sky was calming especially with the calming silence but that quickly disappeared as the thought of her friend entered her peaceful train of thoughts, her heart was immediately filled to the brim with sorrow.
She could feel her lips curl up into a smile, one that was filled with sadness but with a twinge of joy as the memories came rushing in to her mind like a tsunami.
She picked a memory, the time when she and her friend went to their very first hangout and just when they thought it was going to be all fun and games, they ended up getting into trouble for breaking one of the machines in the store and they literally had to run for their lives to avoid being caught by the store manager and the securities. She chuckled and continued travelling down the forest of memories even if she knew that she will feel heartbroken all over again but she didn't care because then at least she will feel just a little bit of happiness even if she knew that it was for a temporary moment.
And so she recalled the time when they were just having a fun sleepover at her house and before they went to bed they were talking about their feelings, exposing their raw emotions to each other because they knew they both trusted each other, they promised they wouldn't betray each other.
A sudden pang of hurt hit her heart as the tears started welling up in her eyes and her head hung low as she recalled it. The time when her friend changed.
Oh how she remembered the very words her friend said, how they made her feel weak in the knees, how her mind went blank, how the words she wanted to say wouldn't escape her lips, but most of all how her heart completely shattered.
I won't tell you what her friend said, but all you need to know is that she knew at that moment that it was time for her to let go. She could feel her heart felt like it was being beaten up and stepped on all over again. She clutched her chest from the pain and her head was throbbing from the emotions swirling around, making it hard for her to think straight. Warm tears finally flowed freely down her cheeks as she let sobs escape her lips.
She was devastated that her friend changed but she knew if she didn't let go, she would hurt even more than this, she knew if she kept holding on, she'll lose what she has now.
It's okay to let go, it might hurt a lot but you'll be okay overtime, I know you will and you need to accept it the way it is because the longer you hold onto it, the more it will hurt when you let go.
