Okay so I understand why Heathmael is such a popular ship

But I’d like to propose more people consider Rodyish

It’s been bothering me for so long that Rodya x Ishmael isn’t a more popular ship than it is

And now that this line has been released I just can’t keep quiet anymore.

There’s also that scene in Canto 5 where Rodya pulls Ishmael aside to “get ice cream” and temporarily calm her down by explaining why the lower class sometimes just needs something to believe in even if they know deep down they’re being exploited, cus they don’t really have an alternative.

Like, she clearly understands why Ishmael is upset and is able to get through to her

Not to mention how Ishmael comments on how strong Rodya is as she pulls Ishmael away from the group.

And there’s at least another, if not two, scenes later on down the line where Ishmael mentions how strong Rodya is.

Considering how she fell for Queequeg, it wouldn’t be a stretch to believe that strong, muscular women are her type.

So what’s her relationship with Heathcliff like, if not romantic?

To me, Ishmael and Heathcliff are platonic besties

Like, I feel like Ishmael would be the only sinner Heathcliff would open up to about what really happened at Wuthering Heights, and how he lost Cathy, since he knows Ishmael knows what it’s like to lose a lover.

In my mind, Ishmael’s a lesbian and Heathcliff respects that, and also acknowledges that any romantic feeling he might have felt towards Ishmael come from how she kinda looks like Cathy if you squint.
