I hate how his entire backstory got discredited in the show because he was only a cargo pilot at first and only got to fighter class because Keith left. As if it's not impressive at all that he's a pilot in the first place. Not anyone can do that shit man

I don't know if this is a common misconception in the fanbase, as I haven't interacted with it in quite some time, but Lance is much smarter than you think. He may not be the smartest person in the room, but he does know a thing or two.

He uses context clues and common sense. He has to simplify scientific jargon, yeah, but once he gets it, he gets it. Lance is forced to be a C student when he has the potential to be a A- student.
