E' uscita una splendida monografia per la casa editrice tedesca Hatje Cantz dedicata al designer danese in occasione del centenario della sua nascita. E' stato definito il falegname più brillante del mondo, il re delle sedie, e, talvolta, semplicemente chair-maker. La capacità di Wegner di esprimersi attraverso il legno era del tutto originale, e le circa 500 sedie da lui progettate sono solo la metà della sua produzione complessiva. In realtà, non è solo la quantità di sedie che definisce Wegner, ma anche la loro qualità. Era un idealista, un neoplatonico. Cercò di progettare soltanto una buona sedia nella sua vita.
