Willas headcanons from his old blog

Willas was born in 272 and was crippled in 283, he was kept unconscious with milk-of-the-poppy for two weeks while in the worst pain from the mangling of his leg. (This was very late in the year, and coming off of Robert’s Rebellion it convinced Mace all the more that Oberyn had crippled the boy intentionally. In his mind, Oberyn was taking out his anger on the Tyrell heir since he was not able to lay a hand on Robert or the Lannisters)

Willas started to wear armor regardless of his injury, in fact because of it. He wants to people think of his as strong instead of just seeing a cripple. It makes a powerful sight when he is on one of his horses. (He only does this when he needs to make a first impression to a house that rivals Highgarden)

Willas’s pride and joy is his Harris’s Hawk, Vigilance. Vigilance is the best hawk he has ever trained, never failing to listen.

A lot of people underestimate Willas’s strength due to his bad leg, this makes for fun when someone pisses him off. He is pretty strong at putting his weight behind swinging his cane and braining someone. This usually happens when someone is stupid enough to insult a member of his family.

Willas’s Injury

The injury that Willas suffered to his leg was simple, yet devastating. When the horse fell on him, it fell on his leg from the knee below. This shattered his kneecap and broke his tibia and fibula in several places, when his knee was broken, there were also tears caused to the connecting ligaments and tendons. Such and injury, in a time period such as Westeros is in, is unrecoverable. This is still something one can walk on with the help of a brace and a cane, but there is no way that one with such an injury could ever run or fight.

In modern threads, Willas still has this injury, but due to his young age at the time, reconstructive knee surgery was something that his parents were not sure about. When he is older, he will get knee surgery, but he will always have a limp.

Willas Headcanon - Cats

Willas is highly allergic to cats. He can be around them for a short time, but after he feels like he is going to die. If said cat gets near his face… he can’t really breathe.

Willas Headcanon - Marriage

If Willas is arranged to marry anyone he lets them know a few certain things that he will abide by as their husband. First, all decisions that involve the wife he runs past the wife. Second, he will never force her into his bed or pressure her for an heir, babies are her choice. His heir at present is Garlan so there is no need to rush into babies, if his wife doesn't want babies he will not force her to have them. The only thing he asks is for his wife to not pass another man's child off as his as he would not ask her to say she birthed a bastard he got on someone if such a thing occurred. Third, all decisions regarding any babies are discussed with his wife and final say is something that she has to agree with. His wife is his equal in marriage, even if that is uncommon for the time.
