I’m sure you heard the unpopular opinion show from this morning. What if Joe is on the last bit of being ill and is all whiny etc and we take care of him? And he tries to prolong his flu so we take care of him even longer. Because he’s a whiny baby boy.

feed him his little peach frubes because he's "too achy" to do it himself

take his temperature and see that he's totally fine, but pretend he's still not totally in the clear

take a shower with him and do all the washing because he's complaining he can barely even stand up on his own let alone do any scrubbing

tuck him into blankets on the sofa and watch his favourite film to make him 'feel better'

carefully suggest that maybe tomorrow you can go out for dinner because the fridge is empty, and he whines, because can't you see he's not doing okay?

and, okay fine, you'll go to this nice bistro by yourself and get something nice to take away for joe

and it takes about twenty minutes of silent film watching for Joe to murmur that maybe tomorrow evening he'll feel better actually

maybe he'll feel good enough to join you

can't let you go out for dinner by yourself, thats awful, so he'll self-sacrifice and come with you

and you smile

say, no baby if you've still got a fever (which he doesnt) youre not allowed outside the house actually, you cant act like youre better when youre not because then it'll just linger

and joe thinks for a second, goes over how to not blow his cover, and then suggests that maybe you can check his temperature a few times extra tomorrow

you know

just to be extra careful

and if it's fine, then you can go out together

and, yea that sounds smart, my goodness youve got such a smart boyfriend, able to think of such smart ideas even when he's got the flu
