They are still cute and I wish the art directors of the show would have taken this direction instead of the usual flash-type vector technicolored ponies but just 3D for gen5. I'm not complaining, heck, it wouldn't even have to be MLP.

i dont think there’s all that many ways to draw cartoon ponies? i always wondered why it’s all the same style and nothing sets one mlp artist apart from another but i actually think it’s because there’s not many ways to draw the mlp characters

idk that’s kind of a weird sentiment? plenty of people i know have no issue drawing them in their own style and I don’t see what about them would make them hard to draw in a style other than flash vector? i can scribble one in my style fine
