fr where is everyone
where are all my malakai x amerie truthers?? feels really lonely in this fandom and s2 came out two days ago
ok on the rewatch i picked up a lot of things i missed the first time round but a really interesting thing i just realised was that in s2 'The Demon King', Amerie asks why the sand art of the boy (Little Rowan) was so sad, Rowan replies saying 'Idk' and then says "Fix it if you want,". Amerie says "I don't want to mess it up." and he like instantly replies "You won't".
I feel like this whole scene has double meaning now that I know the ending and
SPOILERS!!!!!!
the fact that the boy in the sand art was Rowan after Amerie joined the kids who were making fun of them for the bird thing is so sad. Like when he says "Fix it if you want," He's saying that she could literally fix the sand art or that she could fix the little boy (Rowan) and make him not sad by doing what Rowan wants, apologising for killing his brother. The symbolism in that scene is so powerful once you know the ending because when Amerie is then unsure and scared to mess up the art, Rowan tells her that she can't because in that moment he believes that she can fix the past(maybe a little bit because he's falling for her but,,,) and that if she does the right thing and says sorry, she'll be able to make the little boy not sad anymore BECAUSE HE IS THE BOY.
Chook saying "it's just you and me lad, like the old times." when Ca$h asks 'where the others are', insinuates that in the past, Chook took Ca$h on jobs alone when he was still a minor (Ca$h's 18 in the show and I assume when Chook says 'old times' he means over a year ago). It kinda adds to the whole decision Ca$h makes of leaving the eshays because he literally grew up with them and that life, that's all he's known. Going to do shady shit with someone Ca$h probably considered family and cared about while being so young must've really shaped him growing up. Also, the way Chook says it so happily must mean that Chook genuinely enjoyed spending time with Ca$h and being alone with him and made Ca$h's decision to leave way harder because he saw how happy his (basically older brother figure) was to be spending time with them. I'm really glad that in the end, Ca$h sees how fucked up Chook and the rest of them really are and doesn't let the good image he had of them distract him from what they really were like to other people.
