Do ROs care that we read their minds? I can't imagine anyone feeling comfortable with it. Like, we invade their privacy if worst ways. Like reading someone's diary/messages and etc. but worse, because they can't really defend themselves/hide their thoughts. All people need privacy, so I really wonder how they'd feel about being violated like that. It also gives Ortega's romance advantage - they know their privacy is safe
OH THAT WILL BE INTERESTING DISCUSSIONS. It will vary a lot between them, they all care, but in different ways.
Herald knows he doesn’t have good mental shields and blames himself a little for projecting (that’s a bit of an invasion into the mc’s mind as well, like someone talking in your ear). He trusts the mc not to go snooping because he’s convinced they are a good person, and any accidental leakage between them is just another weird couple thing. He’s the least worried about it, and the most likely to learn to have fun with it.
Argent has mental defences now, defences that she trusts, and fond of the mc or not, stick your fingers in that pool and be prepared to have them chewed off. She’s not comfortable with it at all, which is very understandable, but at least she can defend herself.
Steel doesn’t trust telepaths. At all. And he doesn’t trusts the mc’s explanations about how telepathy works, that you have to actively go snooping unless you broadcast. Or maybe he doesn’t trust that the mc wouldn’t snoop. He does have good mental shields and discipline, but he doesn’t trust them, because he wouldn’t KNOW and Steel hates not knowing. In time he could learn to trust. Maybe. But it’s one of the hurdles there.

u know how famous athletes do those visits to hospitals where they meet kids who are big fans? aight so imagine herald going to one because he’s the ranger’s golden boy and everyone likes him. right?
then there’s this one kid who has know clue who he is but calls him bird boy and refuses to refer to him by anything else.
another time herald comes in wearing civilian clothes to meet up with a few kids he sees frequently and there’s this little boy who says he could be a fairy, another is a little girl replying that he could be a bird (same kid who refuses to call him herald).
so herald finds a pair of fairy wings from a costume shop and wears them while he flies around with the little boy (they fly within a safe parameter from the hospital, he’s got confirmation yes marshal steel i am not going off procedure). eventually it becomes a game and he returns back to the rangers with sore arms from carrying all the kids around and flying for a little while.

Something like panic.
Not quite. Maybe its dead beat half cousin that never showed up to family reunions anymore.
He had on pants. He couldn’t remember when that had happened, but there they were. On his legs. Right on his legs where he could see his hands rubbing up and down his thighs in an endless repeated cycle. Grip slide. Grip slide. Old denim against his palms.
Palms that were going a little numb because before he’d sat down he’d been twisting them. His fingers still felt stiff.
Part of his brain was aware of Daniel still talking. Of hands on his bare shoulders and the human shape hovering in front of his body. The rest of it was curled into a tight ball of nauseating dread, barricaded from behind by the mountains of his past and secured from the front by harbor waters frozen completely solid. Any lights were dimmed. Doors locked and windows curtained. No getting in. Not for the simper whimper golden thoughts from the likes of Daniel, no matter how warm they were.
No getting out either, so Richard focused on watching his fingers twitch against the fabric and not choking to death on his tongue.
A vague realization of being shaken. Gently, if the jarring buck and fall of his vision was anything to go by.
“Just talk to me about it, come on,”
