Even though it's been proven many times that Maul trusts his brother with his life, I don't think Savage sees himself as a good enough protector. Their little brother Feral died to his very own hand, after all. After losing his arm to Kenobi, I believe Savage might doubt himself even more. What if next time he can't pull his brother from the ground? What if he isn't strong enough? What if Maul thinks he is an unworthy apprentice?
