Why are vampires always depicted as all black and gloomy?

Black as well as other dark toned colours attract the sun and it's heat- so why wouldn't a vampire wear lighter tone colours that repel/reflect the sun instead. Even if they never leave their dwellings.

Imagine a socially awkward vampire- been in a coffin for a century then has to figure our the new trends and lingo.
