I was reading stuff about DreamWorks Trolls and apparently an au where JD became a hitman is a thing. Which made me think of a possible friend for him away from that world. Her name is Lily and she is both his next door neighbor and works at a coffee shop that's nearby.

This leads me to an image of JD having a bad day and one of his hitman coworkers annoying him. Cue Lily stepping protectively in front of JD and telling the other guy off. Both men are amused because they feel like a kitten is trying to be threatening.

The fact that Lily is at least half a dead shorter than both of them with poofy hair does not help the intimidation attempt.

In the DreamWorks Trolls au where JD is a hitman, my OC Lily is just your average civilian. Yes, she's on the lower end of the money scale but there are no hidden abilities or underlying motives. She is just a kind person who is trying her best to stay afloat.

So when she introduces herself to a newly hired John Dory with a plate full of cookies to welcome her new neighbor he knew he couldn't get to close and should stay away from her. But there was something about the kindness that shone in her eyes and the way she was genuinely pleased to see someone she knew that made him keep coming to the coffee shop she worked at.

Soon he recognized other faces there. Not just for being there mind. They were from the bosses offices, on the job, or had that same look in their eyes he faces every time he looked in a mirror. The look of a hitman or hunter, but each came here to Lily's smiling greeting. Her knowledge of their names and preferences on their coffee and food. It was a little light in their days and John Dory knew that he could not give that light up any more than the others could.

*If there was something about her kindness that reminded John of Floyd and filled him with protectiveness, he didn't admit it to anyone. Not even to himself.*
