I want to talk about Technology and Infrastructure in Hallownest and Bugaria
Like the tech in Bug fables can be pretty mind blowing. They have Holograms and scifi stuff that they reversed engineered from the Roach Civilization. The bee factory in Bugaria looks pretty advanced and Termite Kingdom looks pretty futuristic. They also had clothes and toys possibly made of cotton (or plant matter) and silk from the Aphids.
But the thing is, when in the Hive, Vi and Kabbu have a dialouge about how glasses are a new thing and when I looks around, a lot of the infrastructure are repurposed human products (the cardboard houses, the submarine, the freaking tank). Metal products doesn't seem to be super widespread.
But Hallownest? Sure it doesn't have holograms or the super scifi stuff, but I personally think in terms of infrastructure, Hallownest despite being in statis and possibly several centuries old and thus behind Bugaria, is so far ahead in terms of infrastructure. They had glasswork and metal work a long time ago. They had a whole city made from metal and glass (The City of Tears). They had gigantic mining machines running on much more powerful Crystal power (refer to my previous post about Magic Crystals). They had plentiful Nails and enough metal to equip guards with armor and the city with working elevators and the Trams. Not to mention the Stagway stations and the silk from Deepnest (considering how high quality Hornet's cloak seem to be). Magic studies (given the magic on Quirrel's mask and the various Seal of Bindings and the various Charms) seem to be much farther ahead as well in Hallownest.
Certainly, in terms of food, wealth and happiness Hallownest seems to have fallen behind a LOT (considering warring gods and the infection and basically everything in PLOT). But if you think about it, Hallownest in its prime had established a lot of stuff that only now Bugaria is achieving.
Kabbu didn't fight, because he was too busy holding Ghost, but he did Spy Hornet and noticed that the girl hadn't had a good night sleep in ages. So he did what he had to and gave up his bed for her to rest.
