OKAY BUT LIKE i may be a sucker for whatever found family thing nightmare's gang had going on and i honestly am likely going to stay that way but outside of ending up in the gang horror had to make something out of basically nothing it's not that there was no food it was that there was way too little and to stay alive you need to know how to make the most out of basically nothing you kinda had to learn how to cook at least a little bit to stay alive keep food from rotting or just stretching the use of whatever you've got and it makes sense that he would be a good cook or at least not a bad one in canon and if you bring nightmare's gang into the picture no matter the version you like really horror is going to have access to more food and i suspect he'd want to try cooking with it at the very least horror still likely has major food issues no matter what headcanons you personally subscribe to i just really like the more sympathetic version of the gang they were a big part of a not the best time in my life and they made it a bit better AND there`s nothing wrong with that fandom is what we make it! so while i sometimes like my headcanons with a logical and canonical explanation i think good cook horror is great no matter the reasons! even if he learns after he ends up in nightmare's gang! i love seeing other people's fun headcanons
