Late Nights
Oikawa x reader
a/n: This is my first ever fic that I am posting here, and honestly I am a bit nervous. This fic is for the collab that I am hosting with some of my friends and I am so excited to see them all.
Prompt: “ It's 3am, why are you at my window? “
Hearing a knock at your window you startled awake. Pushing back your covers you got out of bed to check what was going on.
Peeking out your window you noticed Oikawa knelt in the grass with a rose in hand. Upon opening your window you hear, “but soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and y/n is the sun.” Looking up at you he smiles.
“Hey, dork. It's 3am, why are you at my window?” Yawning, you leaned against the window sill. He really was a dork but damn it if he wasn’t cute.
“I was thinking we could sneak out tonight. Have some fun for once! You’re always in your room.” You knew he was just teasing you but it still hurt. Sneaking out wasn’t the best idea. He had practice in the morning, and you needed some sleep to make it through the day.
“Tooru we really shouldn’t be doing this.” Turning you closed the window to change. Grabbing some essentials, you threw them in a bag before heading back to your window. “What are we even going to do anyways?”
“I was thinking we could just drive around tonight. Maybe just stop at a shop and get some snacks.” He was watching you closely making sure you didn’t fall while climbing down. “I just want to hang out with you outside of school. Our schedules never seem to match up anymore.”
“It is our 3rd year. You’re the captain of the Volleyball team and I am so busy with school and studying.” Finally reaching the ground you turned around to find yourself face to face with Oikawa. He was just close enough to you that you could feel his breath fanning your face. Taking a step back you cleared your throat. “Let's get going. I would like to get back home before the sun comes up.”
Oikawa grabbed your hand dragging you behind him to his car. He opened the door for you, bowing before saying, “m’lady.”
“You absolute dork. Stop bowing!” You slapped his arm, laughing behind your other hand. You slid yourself into the passenger seat. After Oikawa closed your door he got in after you. As he started the car he turned and shot you a wink. ”Please just get on with it Tooru.” Flushed you turned forward trying to hide from his gaze. He turned the radio only for New Romantics by Taylor Swift playing. Singing along horribly Oikawa pulled out of your driveway and down your street. The adventure was only just beginning for you two.

It seemed like the people controlling the music knew what you were up to. Every song that played you were able to scream along to. Song after song, you and Oikawa sang along to them, well more like screaming. It didn’t matter to either of you how horrid you sounded, just lost in the energy. The street lights illuminated the road in front of you, nobody else there. Every once in a while you would glance over at Oikawa. He looked good under this light. Well, honestly it didn’t matter what he was doing or where he was. He always looked good to you.
“Do I have something on my face? Or do I just look that attractive?” Oikawa teased. Snapping out of your trance you acted like you were going to hurl.
“As if I would ever think you looked good. Disgusting.” It was all lies but he didn’t need to know that. His flirting just came with being his friend. He was never truly interested in you. How could you even live up to the group of his fangirls who followed him everywhere?
Noticing you got quiet Oikawa turned to you before asking, “Hey, are you ok? You suddenly went silent.” Damn him being so observant. It was good for volleyball, but damn did it get annoying when you just wished people wouldn’t notice.
“Yeah, I’m all good. Just a little tired is all. It is pretty late.” You yawned to add to the effect. He didn’t believe you, but he decided to just let it be. Tonight would be good for you. Finally, getting out of the house and getting to see Oikawa. You both went back to screaming along to the songs on the radio.

Finally pulling into the parking lot of the convenience store, you both hopped out giggling at each other's terrible singing. As you walked inside, Oikawa grabbed a cart, telling you to hop in.
“Tooru, I am not three. I can’t just sit in this shopping cart while you push me around. I am too big for it.” Oikawa didn’t give you the chance to finish your thought before he picked you up and put you in the cart. He was dead set on pushing you around. With your feet dangling out of the front you cocked your head up to look at Oikawa.
“You know you look pretty funny from this angle.” You were looking up at his face. He really did look a little weird from the angle that he was at. He glanced down at you, laughing.
“You look just as funny y/n. But I still think it's cute.” He had stopped laughing. Was he being serious? He couldn’t have been, it was just how he was. Right? Your face still tinged pink at his words. It didn’t matter if he meant it, it was more the fact that he said it to you. “So what are you thinking for snacks? I was thinking we could get some of your favorites.”
“Ooo yes. Take me to the candy aisle!” you demanded, pointing forward. Oikawa pushed the cart toward where you told him to. At one point hopping onto the cart and riding it down the aisle. It was a wonder how you guys weren’t kicked out for being too loud. Grabbing all the snacks that you guys could you walked up to the register.
“So you were the two who were making so much noise.” The woman at the register was older.
“I am so sorry. We didn’t mean to be so loud,” You apologized to the woman. It was late and you probably just bothered her so much with the amount of noise that you guys were making. You just got lost in the happiness that seemed to surround Oikawa.
“No worries hun. It's so good to see a couple so in love with each other and having fun. I always wanted something like that.” She smiled softly at you both.
“Oh no, we aren't a couple. We are just friends.” You denied, face pink as you argued against her. She didn’t seem to believe you and Oikawa wasn’t saying a word. Though you could have sworn he had a small blush across his cheeks and on his ears. It was just your imagination, that would be the only logical explanation to what you saw. Your arguing was doing you no good so you just gave up, letting the woman believe what she wanted to. Grabbing your bags of snacks, you paid before leaving.
“What else do you have planned for us, oh Grand King?” You turned to him, finding yourself face to face for the second time that night. Why did he have to be so close to you? You could smell his shampoo. It wasn’t strong but it still lingered in the air around you even after you stepped back.
“I know this great place to just look at the sunrise. I brought a blanket for us.” He didn’t speak much louder than a whisper. You nodded before turning back around to finish the walk to the car.

Pulling up to a small cliff overlooking the city Oikawa put the car in park before going to get out. You followed his lead, grabbing the snacks while he grabbed the blanket that he had. It was big enough for both of you to fit on comfortably.
“Tooru, I told you I wanted to be home before the sun came up,” You whined to him. You had stuff that you wanted to do today.
“Y/n this is the best spot to watch the sunrise. Please, just watch it with me. You won’t regret it, I promise,” He pleaded. How could you say no to him?
“Fine, but if I don’t get home before my parents notice I am gone, we are both dead meat, Tooru.” You warned. Before you could get another word in, Oikawa grabbed your wrist in a firm grip and pulled. His other hand moved quickly to push onto the small curve of your back, effectively landing you face-first into the crook of his neck.
One hand on his shoulder, you arched up, pulling as far away as you could despite the pressure on your spine. The hand that rested around your wrist was quick to come to the back of your neck, not letting you move any further.
“Tooru, I’m warning you.” The muscles in your neck were quickly losing their strength.
No words left him, but his eyes darted around your face, inspecting it, before settling at the centre of your forehead. Before you even had the chance to figure out where he was looking you felt his lips press gently where he was previously staring. Stunned you just continued to stare at him. His eyes then found the spot right below your eye and then you felt his lips press there as well. He continued to trail soft kisses down your face before his eyes fell to your lips.
“Tooru,” You whispered softly, his eyes moving up to meet yours. Looking into them you found yourself trapped. His eyes always seemed so pretty, but up close was another story. You could feel yourself being drawn into them. You held eye contact for what seemed like an eternity before his eyes finally fell back to your lips.
“Can I kiss you?” His voice was just loud enough to reach your ears.
You tried to hold down a scoff, letting the words pour out slowly, “You already have, technically.”
An amused smirk grew onto his cheeks as he slowly added more pressure to the back of your neck, slowly dragging you closer to him.
Unable to maintain eye contact any longer, without any prompting from you, the lids of your eyes slowly blocked out the warm light that was pouring over your forms from the horizon. His hands squeezed you tightly when your lips finally came into contact with his, trying to eliminate any remaining space between the two of you. The roughness of his fingertips didn’t correlate to the plush feeling of his mouth against yours or the warm air that pushed out of his nose in insistent huffs.
Unconsciously, your hands trailed upwards from his chest to rest along his sharp jawline, thumbs pushing into his cheeks to make him pucker into the kiss. He laughed, pushing his head further into the blanket as he pulled ever so slightly away. His eyes remained shut, drowning in the warmth that came off of you and radiated from the incoming sunrise.
You stared at his lashes that moved with the light breeze, then his cheekbones, before trailing down to meet the redness that pooled around his damped lips. You noticed how much softer yours felt. Did he wear lip gloss? You scoffed internally. Damn him.
