Rawr xD - How It Begins

I stare at Lena, mouth unable to form physical words to explain the hurricane of emotions I was feeling at that very moment.
"I know it's very last minute, but I really need to do this. Please?" She pouts, fluttering her eyelashes. The sincerity in her eyes isn't real, that much I can tell.
"What about V?" I manage to stutter out, the thought of her hybrid sitting all alone in her apartment while she's two time-zones away kills me a little, he doesn't deserve this.
"You can check on him, I'll give you my key. Please?"
"Fine." I finally give in, body sagging against the uncomfortable coffee shop chair as she straightens.
Great.
----
There's always been a sort of tension between V and I ever since Lena first adopted him, and it still plagues me as to why. To my knowledge, I had never offended him or hurt him in any way. Then again, he's the same with Lena, and she's his owner, so maybe that's how he is with everyone?
Lena had been my closest friend for around three years at the time she adopted V, and I tried my best to welcome him with open arms. Lena had seemingly only adopted him to impress a man at her work, so I assumed that she wouldn't keep him for long, just until someone else caught her eye. However, legislation restricted her from sending him back within the first year without any serious reasons why, so she's seemingly been waiting it out.
V was a reptile hybrid; more specifically dragon. Lena had named him V, without thinking, despite his birth name being something different. He had to go through so much change in such a small amount of time, the poor thing. And now he's going to go through another significant change: his owner being in a different continent without him.
Ugh.
----
V doesn't even seem affected when Lena tells him of the work trip, instead he just nods and continues to shovel food into his mouth. He's eating a lot more than usual tonight, already on his fourth portion of pork belly and kimchi fried rice when normally he'd be finished after two. I had gotten up a few times for drinks, making sure to refill V's when I saw it empty as an attempt to quell the tenseness a little bit. It seemed to work, seeing as he filled my plate once he saw it empty. Lena and V were almost the perfect pair, jointly ignoring one another and sending respect-filled nods when the other fills their plate or pushes the bowls closer.
Lena left the table early, phone fixed to her ear as she prattled on about some statistics that mainly sounded made-up until she got into her bedroom, quiet giggles beginning to fill the room. V and I stay at the table for a few minutes in silence before I had started to clean up, leaving him there.
I left soon after finishing cleaning, sending an awkward wave to him and cursing Lena mentally. Why did I agree to this?
---- FOUR DAYS LATER ----
"V? There's some lasagne in the oven for when you're hungry, and some iced coffee in the fridge," I pause, waiting for some sort of reply, "Can you just make some sort of noise so I know you're okay? Please?"
It's dead silent for a few seconds before a grumbled "Thank you." sounds from inside the room, my heart racing from the sudden noise in the normally silent apartment. I smile a little, moving back into the kitchen to finish preparing the stew that will hopefully last for the next couple of days, otherwise I'm going to have to go grocery shopping yet again.
Too hyper-focused on the stew, I don't notice the creeping steps moving towards the kitchen, or the sudden presence in the doorway. At least, not until I have a spoonful of boiling hot stew in my hand ready for a taste-test that I end up dropping and splashing all over my arm.
"Ow! Holy sh-"
"Are you hurt? Stupid mate. Why weren't you paying attention?" He babbles on, dragging me towards the sink and scolding me. I flinch as the water first makes contact, relaxing a little as it soothes the burn a little. Then, I flinch again.
"HUH?!"
----
I stay silent as he gently rubs lotion on my arm, bandage ready on the table. His breaths are a little heavy, small tuts leaving his mouth every so often as he makes sure my entire forearm (not just the burn itself) is covered in lotion.
"You can't just not talk about it, V."
"Taehyung." He whispers and I barely hear it.
“Pardon?" My face sets in confusion, arm going stiff in his hold.
"Taehyung. That's my name." He begins to wrap my arm, tongue stuck out of the side of his mouth in concentration. I watch him for a few seconds, trying to organise the many swirling thoughts in my head.
"Okay, Taehyung. Why did you call me mate?" I anxiously tap my foot against the floor, watching as he ties of the end with a safety pin he seemingly produced out of nowhere, careful not to stab himself or my skin underneath. Finally done, he shifts backwards, letting go of my arm and sighing.
"You're seriously telling me that you never knew? That you never," He pauses, running his tongue over his lips to dampen them, "Ever suspected? I don't exactly treat you the same as I do with Lena for starters."
"You weren't exactly a warm person to begin with, Taehyung. I thought I had done something wrong at some point early on and you hated me."
"I was mad at you for a while. At the beginning. You went on a date with that loser, even though I tried to court you. Took it personally."
"Court me?" I try to scramble through memories of the time V is speaking of, but I can't find anything close to that. What's he talking about?
"I left my door open when I knew you were visiting. You saw my hoard. Thus my attempt would begin."
"Your... hoard?"
He sighs in reply, rubbing at his forehead in exasperation. Finally, he settles back in his chair, leaning back and staring at me. I nervously shift in my chair.
"Where do I begin?"
----
His grip on my hand is loose as he leads me towards his bedroom. Any other version of this scenario would probably cause me to blush and die of embarrassment, but I can see that this is an action that is in no way sexual, just informative and a little romantic. He's putting his complete trust in me to go near something so important to him and not cause distress.
We stand in-front of the bedroom door, the cream white staring back. He takes a deep breath, wrapping his hand around the doorknob and twisting. A click sounds through the silent apartment, the creak of the door joining afterwards.
It falls open, displaying his room. The walls are a matte silver, his room practically filled to the brim. It's obvious that he needs the largest bedroom more than Lena does, or at least needs to make use of the spare room. The side of his king-size bed closest to the wall is stocked full of items, the type of thing you'd normally see in a child's room. The avalanche continues down towards the floor, sets of drawers tightly packed along the edge.
"What do you think?"
"It's nice. A little chaotic, but there's some sort of organisation in the chaos."
"Thank you." His face is a little red, tone shy as I run my eyes over him and then back to his room. A jewellery box catches my eye, neatly placed between a large furry blanket and an old, ratty looking teddy bear.
"So, this is your hoard?" I test the word in my mouth a little, unsure of the term in relation to him.
"Yes. Do you want me to talk you through everything? You can touch a few if you like." He rocks a little on his feet, large smile plastered on his face. I can't find it in me to say no. How could I ever do anything to take that smile away?
——
I go home that night with my mind racing like a racing car on a track. I needed a few hours to process things, away from Taehyung's pout and shimmering eyes.
I had gone there with the intent of cooking some stew, checking he was okay and then coming home to have long bath. I had completed my first task, but I've been muddled ever since. I'm now staring at the ceiling of my bedroom, listening to the rain against the window, instead of being in the bath, simply because the heaviness of my brain is stopping me from moving.
I wonder if he's doing the same, or whether he had this all planned out and he's doing just fine?
I walked into that apartment with my future a surprise and I left with my life partner already there.
Wow.
—//—
Taehyung glares at his ceiling, displeasure and anxiety filling the room. He misses you already, surely the bond shouldn't ze work this quickly? He spins the throw cushion around in his hands, pulling and yanking desperately. You had lightly picked it up earlier to get a better look at the flowery design, thus entrapping your scent in the fibres, most of which he had already released into his room.
He sighs; the rain patters against the window in reply.
He breathes heavily through his nose; the rain replies again.
He wonders if you're feeling like he is. He wonders if you're doing just fine.
Wow.

I blearily open my eyes, glaring at the sound that had invaded my dreams. The ringing continues on and on, only silencing once I swat at my phone impatiently. I smile at the sudden silence, tucking my arm back under the warm covers and begin my descent into dreamland once more.
Not.
It begins to blare again, a loud groan falling from my lips as I glare at the offending object. My phone continues to make my ears bleed, screeching it's vile tune until I finally give in and grab the stupid thing.
The noise stops. My screen displays a barrage of notifications.
Uh oh.
