Bucky going to Hydra Inc. to wipe his memories of Steve and their dysfunctional relationship. Steve all mopey and depressed and shit before deciding to do the same procedure against the advice of his friends. Steve unconscious in bed as the memory erasure procedure is being conducted by various Hydra personnel. Steve recalling every single memory of him and Bucky—the good, the bad, and the sexy times—in reverse before it gets deleted from his brain. Steve realizing midway that despite their problems, he still loves Bucky very much and tries to hide him in the deepest corners of his mind where the Hydra technicians haven't included in their map. Steve and Bucky trying in vain to run from the erasure program but then realize their efforts are doomed from the start. Steve and Bucky ending up at the first place they ever met—Steve's very first memory of his beloved James—and then Bucky lovingly whispers to Steve to "meet him at MoMA" before the first memory of them finally gets deleted. Steve waking up to a new day and going about his daily routine where he works as a freelance artist living in New York. Steve deciding to be spontaneous by skipping on his online art commissions and visit the Museum of Modern Art just to unwind. Steve arriving at the MoMA and discovering to his surprise that a guerrilla performance art exhibit featuring a pale and gamine ice-blonde woman is sleeping in a glass box located in the main atrium of the museum. Steve taking a few minutes to gaze at the sleeping blonde androgyne and making some rough sketches on his doodle book before his eyes are locked onto a person staring at the woman from the other side of the glass box: it is Bucky. Steve and Bucky notice each other from between the transparent panes of glass but they do not recognize each other. They do, however, give each other looks of interest evident by the twinkle in their eyes and the playful quirk of their lips. Steve and Bucky ending up on a date the day after their encounter at the MoMA. Steve and Bucky tentatively going steady before deciding to take things to a more physical level after their seventh date. Steve and Bucky ending up at Bucky's apartment in Brooklyn where James receives a package from Hydra Inc.: all the paperwork and recorded confessions of Bucky before his memory erasure sent to him by a disgruntled Hydra employee. Steve and Bucky wary of the package but ultimately decide to play the audio files through his laptop stored in a tiny flash drive. Steve horrified to discover that he has previously known Bucky and that they were boyfriends. Steve visibly upset at hearing Bucky say all the horrible things about him on the audio files. Bucky flipping out and desperately convincing Steve that this must be some kind of prank and that he has never done this before. Steve pushing Bucky away and running back crying to his apartment on the Lower East Side where he finds a similar package by his doorstep addressed to him from Hydra Inc. Steve clearly scared and hurt and confused but opens the package to find a similar looking flash drive which he dreads contains information involving him and Bucky. Bucky deciding to chase Steve and ending up at his apartment in time to discover Steve dejectedly sitting on the floor of his living room, his laptop open in front of him, and hearing Steve's masculine voice emanate from the computer and saying rather bad things about Bucky. Steve and Bucky trying their very best not to be affected by the revelation of their past relationship and the hurtful things they said to each other but their tear-filled eyes betray their real emotions. Bucky walking out of the apartment because he couldn't deal with the whole thing, only for Steve to chase after him and they both end up in the hallway outside of Steve's place. Steve wanting to give them both a second chance but Bucky looking at Steve with uncertainty and longing. Steve and Bucky talk about what happens next. "Look. Even when I had nothing, I had you, Bucky. I can't see anything that I don't like about you." "But you will! But you will, Steve. You know, you will think of things. And I'll get bored with you and feel trapped because that's what happens with me." "I don't care. I'm not going to fight you... because I'm with you 'till the end of the line."
