/rp ok ok here we go. the reason i love “you look so beautiful right now” to an absurd degree is bc… you can tell it wasn’t said with the desire to “win” ponk back or anything. it was spoken so softly that you could barely hear him. sam’s not trying to make things go back to the way they used to be. he didn’t refute ponk’s speech, he didn’t seek him out to start a conversation with him at the party, and when ponk tells him to go away, he does. he’s been giving ponk the space he deserves

so when sam says “you look so beautiful right now” it’s just….. a fact. nothing more. it’s something that slips out of sam’s mouth simply because he knows it’s true. ponk looks beautiful when he’s up there giving his speech, and the status of their relationship doesn’t change that. it’s just something ponk needs to know
