imagine having a war criminal psychopathic genocidal baby killer who met you three months ago for a dad and he's still a better parent then people who knew you since you were a baby

this topic makes me feel so conflicted cause on the one hand no jake and neytiri did not have any obligation towards spider but spider is still a kid and a kid NEEDS a parent/guardian even if no one really wants the job thats why governments have foster programs and stuff like that to make sure kids get at least the bare minimum and yes spider did have a foster family but as of the high ground they explicitly abandoned him spider was alone at 15 i know jake and science guys all collectively kept an eye on him and that worked out temporarily but long term kid needs a parent and unfortunately captain colonizer stumbled into that role for spider and the kid bonded with him cause he has no frame of reference for a healthy parental figure he knows quaritch isn't a good father its why he ran away in the end but jack champion himself said in an interview part of spider secretly wants his dad and its not even necessarily jake and neytiri's fault they were just prioritizing their family in a messed up situation but jake and neytiri's actions DID lead to spider developing that bond with Q that led to him saving his life i just hope that when it all comes out they can be forgiving jake and neytiri prioritized their family at spider's expense and spider did the same thing... at this point i don't care if its jake or quaritch or what but SOMEBODY needs to step up and be responsible for that kids wellbeing it broke my heart watching all the other kids always have a parent to rescue them and then spider is left to be tortured and die in a cold metal box no wonder he trauma bonded to quaritch so hard he knew damn well no one was coming for him so it was such a huge moment when Q got him out even though it was manipulative but when you've been left behind for dead at 16 thats not gonna matter so much i guess the TLDR of what I'm saying is this: if you can understand why jake and neytiri left a teenager behind to be tortured and killed by the enemy then you can understand why that teenager saved a monster I don't get people who act like jake and neytiri did nothing wrong but then condemn spider like he's the devil himself everybody did messed up stuff cause they were in a messed up situation where you're forced to make those tough decisions
