I Hate To Implicate The Rest Of Ed Fans Who Are Normal - Tumblr Posts

This!!

Ed did have amazing character development- both up AND down. He went through a lot (yes, I know I'm an Izzy Apologist, but I still hold the asshole accountable for his actions) and it was indeed both by Stede and Izzy. While unintentionally, Stede leaving did start the fire, and Izzy fueled it.

Ed was only reacting the way he knew how. Though unexcusable, he still ended up working on himself enough to recognize what he had done and how it came to be. (I'm still upset that his apology to the crew felt staged via Stede, but I digress).

He was learning how to be Ed. Not Blackbeard. It was hard, it involved violence and death and much worse than that. He fought tooth and nail for his development. Maybe it was a few steps towards the right direction- baby steps- but it was a lot for someone like him.

The fact people bring race into it irks me. It's not about his race, it's not about his queerness- it was about learning who he was and what he deserved to have despite it all. He learned his value and that Stede (despite leaving) was the person who showed him his value.

- A GentleBeard slanderer/Izzy Apologist

Ed stans trying to convince everyone it's problematic to think Izzy had better character development than Ed in S2 without making it about race challenge (impossible)
