No - imagine if Shang Tsung found an egg that was supposed to be a dragon egg and took it to his laboratory so that he could experiment on it and turn it into a monster and so on. He was then surprised when the egg hatched and a small creature emerged from it, whose eyes could barely open. It turned out to be a type of dragon child and had a semi-human appearance.
