I headcanon that Su She was from an aristocratic family and was a black sheep due to his disability, basically having the least unfortunate past of the Villainous Quartet because he seems to be the most “well adjusted”.

They threw me into the ocean from the top of a cliff. And that’s how I arrived in Jiangsu where an old lady took me in because she didn’t have grandchildren. After I buried her, the Lan sect was scouting for servants, and since I had experience being a slave, I passed with flying colors.
