like i was reading a crossover fic where the mc's house burns down and she's presumed dead, so she leaves and goes to Gotham or whatever right? and the police were all like "two bodies were found, the mom and dad. the daughter was small enough that she would likely have been just ash" when the fire took less than a few hours to subdue. like it takes constant heat of WAY higher than a house fire to cremate a body and even then it must be done for much longer than a few hours
