Chapter 1: Of Pranks And Strange Encounters
Chapter 1: Of Pranks And Strange Encounters

With the back of his gloved hand, the third prince of Rhodolite, Clavis Lelouch, wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled impishly as he admired his handiwork. At his feet laid the weary and dirty old shovel he used to dig the mother of all pitfalls— the one that was worth all the blisters covering his palms.

A snicker escaped through his dried lips. It had been an utterly frustrating week for the hellcat, and he did what he excelled at to let off some steam. Satisfied with his work, he lifted his arms and stretched as he stared ahead.

The roses in the palace gardens were bathed in silvery moonlight. A gorgeous sight and no one to share it with, he thought while letting out a long yawn, feeling his bright, golden eyes water as he did. But even through the unshed tears of exhaustion, Clavis caught a glimpse of something a little peculiar.

Out of thin air, a dark figure appeared a fair distance away from him. He blinked a few times, not believing what he had just witnessed, before quickly crouching down and squinting his eyes as he tried to discern who the figure was— or what it was, for that matter.

“Why are we hiding?” Cyran, who had just come back with a basket full of acorns, asked in a quiet tone.

The third prince nodded ahead, pointing towards the figure.

“Is that a… woman? Who is that, one of Prince Nokto's friend ladies?”

“I don’t know. She simply appeared before my eyes.”

“Like, literally?”

“Mhm.” Clavis furrowed his brows and mumbled, “How interesting.”

The redheaded soldier scowled as if questioning his Lord’s sanity but kept his mouth shut. The two men proceeded to stare quietly at the seemingly confused woman as she turned her head left and right.

“Eh, ¿qué acaba de pasar? ¿Dónde carajo estoy? [Uh, what just happened? Where the fuck am I?]”

Clavis observed her and strained his ears to listen to what she was saying. The woman seemed to be in a state of panic as she continued mumbling about being on her way home when she found herself in that strange yet familiar place.

“Have you ever heard a woman swear this much?” Clavis whispered, there was a hint of amusement in his tone.

“Is she cursing?”

“Like a drunk soldier on a day off.”

Despite recognizing the language, Cyran did not speak Andalusitian, so he had no idea what the woman was saying. All he could do was read the confusion in her expression. He would have to trust Clavis' claim just this once.

Before Cyran could respond, Clavis took one of the acorns from the basket and threw it in her direction. It landed near her and rolled between her feet. After squealing and jumping in place, she seemed to realize something.

“Ah, no es una cucaracha. [Oh, it’s not a roach.]” She sighed in relief as she crouched to pick it up, only to turn around and knit her brows a moment later. There were no trees around. She opened her mouth as if to speak when the two men stood up, startling her.

“What a delightful reaction,” Clavis spoke, snickering softly as he slowly approached the distressed woman.

“Uh, ma’am, do you speak Rhodolitian?”

Clavis stared at her with amused, golden eyes as her brown eyes landed on him and widened. For a moment, he thought he saw recognition in her expression, but he quickly dismissed it. He had never seen that woman before, and there was no way she would know him. Her gaze, then, landed on the redhead and lingered as though she were studying Cyran.

Cyran repeated the question, as the brunette had yet to speak. She then blinked, as if being pulled away from her reverie, and nodded before answering: “Yeah, I… I speak, uh… Rhodolitian.”

“What were you doing here so late in the night? How did you get past the palace guards?” Cyran inquired, studying her clothes.

The woman bit her lip and replied, “I have no idea. I was on my way home one moment and here the next.”

“Are you, perhaps, an enchantress?” Clavis, who had stayed quiet, finally spoke.

“What? No.” She chuckled nervously. “I wish. It would come in handy. But, no, I’m not an enchantress.”

Clavis noted that she seemed a little more relaxed now. “Hmm.” He squinted his golden eyes and stared at her as if seizing his prey. “How does a woman suddenly appear in the palace gardens?”

“You said she appeared out of the blue, right?” interjected the soldier.

Clavis nodded, and her eyes lit up.

“You saw that?”

“Naturally.”

“Then we can all agree I'm from somewhere else—maybe from another world, or from another universe?” Her speech was paused. She sounded bewildered, yet it seemed to the third prince like there was something she was afraid to say.

“Uh, this is weird,” Cyran let out a heavy sigh. “Are you playing a prank on me right now?” He looked at Clavis with tired eyes.

“Hahaha. I can’t blame you for coming to that conclusion. But, I’m afraid I’m not.”

“This is not possible. Is she a witch or something?”

“I think I just answered that question,” she huffed.

“Well, she certainly doesn’t look like one. Although, she could be lying.” Clavis murmured.

“She’s wearing strange clothes, though. Not to mention she’s speaking gibberish.”

“Hello? I’m right here.” She dramatically waved her hands. “And there’s nothing weird with my clothes. You guys just don’t get it because you’re from, where? The 14th century?” She scoffed, looking offended.

“And you’re not?”

“No, clearly I’m not even from this universe.”

“Again with that gibberish?”

The annoyed woman glared at the redheaded man, but before she could speak, Clavis spoke.

“Please, enlighten us. Who are you and where are you from, little bunny?”

The woman introduced herself and told them she was from the 21st century, and mumbled, “but, I am definitely not from this dimension or… whatever.”

Cyran turned to Clavis and asked again, “Are you sure this is not a prank?”

Clavis dismissed his underling with a mirthful laugh. It was evident he had been pranking Cyran a lot. “Oh, how rude of us, we haven’t introduced ourselves,” Clavis apologized. “I am Clavis Lelouch, third prince of Rhodolite.” His aureate eyes glinted under the dim light of the moon. He looked so elegant and graceful as he bowed down and gently grabbed her hand to plant a chaste kiss on its back. “And this is my most trusted soldier.”

She was still in a daze when the purple-haired prince gently let go of her hand with a smirk on his handsome face.

“I’m Cyran Rose,” the soldier introduced himself briefly, unsure of what to make of the whole situation.

But like a moth to the flames, she was drawn to Clavis, her eyes fixed on his. “Nice to meet you… both.”

Forgetting all about the pitfall, Clavis flashed the young woman, his newest toy, a mischievous grin as he took her gently by the arm and walked her inside the palace with Cyran in tow. He was already coming up with all sorts of pranks involving her and his dear brothers. Utter chaos would fall upon the palace, and Clavis would watch it burn with a smile on his face and a devilish glint in his eyes. No one would be able to escape the havoc the hellcat was about to wreak.
