I had a furby as a kid and I blinded it using a laser pointer because I was scared it would watch me. But then it thought it was dark at all times so it would scream and say "help! It so dark!"

"personalities" depending on how you treated them, one of these personalities was an evil one which if memory serves correct it just sung "smoke on the water" in the furby language. My mom would call it
"darth vader mode" and it freaked the hell out of me caused i was scared of Darth Vader. I also couldn't figure out for the life of me how the emotion mechanic worked so the furby was stuck in darth vader mode for a while and when I did manage to turn it good again from my child POV the furby randomly turned evil. My sister had an original in the early 2000's. It scared her so my parents put it in the basement. That night, it went fucking nuts babbling and unfortunately my parents left it too close to the vent and it echoed up into my room.
Fucking terrified me. My parents found me under my blankets screaming for the voices to stop.

It's so fucking funny how many people who owned Furbies as children ended up being traumatized by them in some way

furbies i saw someone comparing furbies to tamagotchis and i don't think they're the same for one tamagotchis dont usually turn evil (unless they're digimons i suppose) also it's a bit hard to abuse a tamagotchi as its programming is quite limited (you can only neglect it but then it'll get sad and perish) 'omg you're evil!' no! i treated my bootleg tamagotchi (all i could afford) with love and care! i'm just spilling facts here my bootleg little guy literally refused food and cleaning and sleeping if its stats were all already full lol and i suspect original tamagotchis work under a very similar logic furbies have a bit more complex programming that has far more ifs and elses tamagotchi is a game for raising little pocket pets furbies are supposed to simulate actual sapience newer furby models have the potential to become terrifying if advanced learning ai is etched in their programming thankfully it won't be possible for now (learning ai consumes too much disk space) but can you imagine in the future tho people might end up creating truly evil furbies
