i saw star trek on that list so now im going dump an analysis on this trans topics in st sometimes they do a really bad job(the whole nonbinary species thing. tho the actors wanted it differently the producer did not allow that) but other times they do an alright job ive been thinking about how in voyager. Seven of Nine has difficulty accepting that shes human and not borg. and the crew(esp janeway) tell her constantly that she isnt borg she is human and shes always been human. but she so desperately wants to be borg it pains her and my first thought was ‘oh. trans narrative. she *transitioned* to borg and now no one is supportive thats bad writing’ but then i realized it was infact me who was having transphobic thoughts. instead of being yelled at for being borg(being trans) she was being yelled at for not accepting she was human(accepting being trans). i remembered that if you are trans now you were trans when you were a child. you just didnt know. Seven grew up (basically) her whole life as borg. believing she wasnt human and she was borg(like a trans person forced into their assigned gender at birth. not accepted for being trans so they hide that and deny it). and Seven has such a hard time accepting shes human(internalized transphobia) even after all her borg parts are removed(a little bit of a strecth and not recquired for being trans but it could be a metaphor for reassignment surgery) anyways i had some thoughts about that i wanted to share goodbye
