Merlin AU Fanfiction Idea

So you know the whole Hallmark "my one fear as a high-end business executive is that some hometown hunk is going to steal my girlfriend by teaching her the true meaning of Christmas" thing?

Imagine Arthur's that high-end business executive. Gwen is his girlfriend. She goes to visit her hometown for Christmas, and Arthur can't come for some business reason and because he's hoping to surprise her on Christmas by proposing to her.

Right before she leaves, she casually mentions that her old high school sweetheart Lancelot is going to be there.

Naturally, this sends Arthur into a panic.

He ropes Merlin, his manager/do-all/secretary, into going to said hometown and spying on Lancelot and Gwen from afar. Merlin tries to rope him into Christmas preparation activities, and they end up getting involved in shenanigans that they attempt to cover up. Elyan, Percival, Leon, Gwaine, etc. are featured throughout.

Eventually, at a Big Confrontation in which Arthur tries to punch Lancelot in the nose, it is revealed that this was a whole scheme cooked up by Gwen and Merlin (the Wholesome Duo TM) to get Arthur to take a break from his job for Christmas.
