I Wrote More Here But Apparently After A Certain Character Count Tumblr Just Says No - Tumblr Posts
Ever since the discovery of Mana and how to obtain it from nature, people managed to overcome even their most basic needs. Mana could supply the body with all the energy and nutrients it could possibly need. Because of this, humanity put away the habits they needed for survival in favour of this new method. They needn't sleep anymore, so they spent all day doing what they wanted to do, fulfilling all their wonderous ambitions with no fatigue. Food was still used as a pleasurable experience, however they didn't need to pay mind to what was good or bad for you or what they needed more of to maintain a healthy diet. They just freely ate whatever they wanted. In the view of many, this was nothing short of evolution. Humanity had ascended beyond their worldly needs and went up to achieve greater things using the power of Mana. Many Years Later... Young Malcom was just an ordinary novice scholar. He had yet much to learn in how to use Mana before he could use it to his full advantage, but he was content with putting in the hard work to learn. Malcom loved reading, and alongside his normal studies, he also partook in reading other topics such as history. One of his favourites was called "Humans Before the Dawn of Mana". It spoke of the habits and methods used before Mana took over their lives. Malcom would never resent Mana, because it helped society in more ways he could ever count. However, he did find some interest in the traditional activities done in the past. On a whim, he decided to spend an entire day replicating a basic schedule humans would use back in the old days. He slept for 7 hours, woke up and washed his face, ate a balanced breakfast dish, and then took a 10 minute jog. From then, he went to his daily average work. For lunch, he ate a special dish he found that consisted of a sufficient amount of all food groups and nutrients. He took a 1 hour nap in the afternoon, again returned to his work, and later took an hour long walk in the evening. He had a light but hearty dinner, and then went to sleep just before midnight. The next morning, he felt really weird. His body felt more... energised. It was a bizarre feeling. All this time he used Mana and it never felt like this. Now he spent only a day and felt this good? The scholar he was, Malcom couldn't just let go of such an odd occurrence. Perhaps it was just a coincidence. He needed to make sure. So he repeated the schedule once more. The next morning he felt even better. Day by day, he felt stronger. More capable. And it wasn't limited to his physical status, either. He felt great. More cheerful. More motivated. He used every second he had to study and practice. Even his magic became more powerful and efficient. His teachers and mentors and colleagues were bewildered by his sudden change. They couldn't believe how much he was improving over the short span of time. Many asked how he did it, and he was more than willing to share. But no one was willing to believe he was telling the truth. 20 Years Later... Sylvia had been the protégé of "Malcom, the Seer of Magic" for only a few days now. She had been instructed to follow an odd plan that involved not a single bit of Mana in it. She was very skeptical at first, but she knew better than to so quickly challenge the most powerful mage in the land. In a matter of days, she too saw an amazing spike in her capabilities. Utterly confused, she went to her mentor and asked him how was such a thing possible. "At first, I was just as confused as you were, dear student. Mana could give you all you could ever need, so how is it that such a obscure list of habits could make you so much stronger? Over time, I started to realise a potential explanation. This isn't simply about what you need or don't. It's about discipline." "By eating correctly, you gain better self control. By exercising, you attain resilience against hardships. And by sleeping, you have a moment to ease your mind and regather your thoughts. All together, these things help you forge yourself into a more capable being."
nobody believes you. They all think you made some sort of bargain or deal. Maybe even consuming souls… but the truth is that you became the most powerful mage in the world by getting enough sleep, studying, and eating right.
