I'll Blame It On My Shitty Wifi Connection. But It's Back Now - Tumblr Posts

Feeling angsty about Rui tonight (ignore the fact that i was lusting over him literally yesterday). Also EdRui content ahead.

Can you imagine if Rui's curse comes with being able to see ghosts but only those whose lives he took. Doesn't matter if it's accidental or not, he will literally be haunted by them (not that he completely isn't now) which means the guilt he's carrying is ten times more intense.

Also, imagine if the way to break free from his curse is basically True Love's Kiss but a darker version of it. He has to kiss the person he loves the most to continue his previous curse-free life in exchange of taking the life of his most beloved. That will be the last life he will ever take, but he will live as an empty shell— forever echoing the name of that person who took his heart with them, along with his soul. Walking the Earth all by himself until death knocks on his door and finally return him to his lost beloved.

But if his true love is Ed, Rui will be like his snail. The thing that will slowly reach him to end his immortal life. It's tiring to live in loneliness for so long but at the same time he's so used to live his life being immune to time. And at the end he befriended Death. His own Death. In a form of Rui Mizuki whose existence (or curse) is to put an end to his life. Ed loves Rui, and Rui loves Ed. Ed is persistent that Rui should take his life so that he can be free of the reaper curse.

"To die in the arms of the person I hold dear – your arms – will be the best parting gift I can ever receive. So, forgive me for being selfish yet again, but won't you grant my last wish, Rui?"

No matter how much Rui cried and plead that he would rather live out his curse instead of taking Ed's life, Ed had decided that he'd want Rui to continue living among mortals, like he used to be, where he belongs.

That was the last night Ed tasted Rui's tears on his tongue.

And he ended his last supper with kissing Death on the lips, like a desert he had been waiting for a very, very long time.
