The Moon and the Tides

Our love was like the moon and the tides. You drew me in, made me feel larger than life, powerful enough to take down a thousand ships. But when you’d pull away, I’d shrink. Your distance destroyed me because my strength was dependent on you. In a seemingly endless cycle I would feel on top of the world, and so quickly after feel less than a single grain of sand on the beach I was lapping at just trying to reach you. But you are not the moon, and the ocean is an incredibly powerful entity on its own. We’ve parted, but sometimes I still reach out to the moon as the tide does in hopes someday you’ll descend from the night sky trying to reach out to me.
