You hug Eric tightly, arms on his shoulders and your face buried in the nook of his neck. His cologne envelopes you as you push yourself as close to him as possible, almost causing him to trip.

Fortunately, he steadies himself in an instant, circling his arms around your waist and rubbing your back soothingly with a chuckle. His longer hair tickles your ear but you don’t move an inch, afraid he’ll suddenly disappear if you do. “Missed me that much?”

The back of your eyes sting and bile rises up your throat in your overwhelmed state but you force yourself to hold it in, focusing all your thoughts on the fact that he’s finally home.

You don’t miss the way he sniffles a bit as he speaks.

“So much,” You answer, voice muffled as you go up on your tiptoes to bump your head on his chin. “so, so much, you dumbass. You don’t even know.”

He takes a step away from the door but you quickly follow and stick closely to him, eliciting more giggles. The way his chest vibrates from his gentle laugh while his heart beats so fast makes you smile a bit. “Aren’t you going to let me in the house first?”

“Let’s stay like this for a bit.”

“Okay.”
