He needed to get to you.

After finishing his lessons for the day, the young male hurried to his room to freshen up before heading for the palace stables. It paid to be a demi-god son of Anubis; Egyptian lord of the Afterlife. Giving the royal stable boy some coins to keep him quiet, Jungkook swiftly mounted the midnight black horse and was off in a flash.

It was forbidden. A forbidden love. However, the male could care less as he flicked the reins to urge his horse to move faster. Not even his own father was going to stop him from seeing you. Then again…..no one knew but you and him. Both of your fathers knowing none the wiser. A dangerous game but one he was willing to play if it meant being with you. His one and only love.

You were doomed by association, really. For you too were a demi-god child. Your father? The infamous Set; Egyptian lord of chaos. The history between your fathers was a dark one. Set bitter upon discovering how Anubis’ birth came to be. Betrayal. Complete and utter betrayal. That was the only thing your father could see whenever the topic of the great jackal god was brought up. On one hand, you couldn’t blame Set for being upset. His lover slept with another man….

But that didn’t mean your father had to go to such extremes to seek revenge.

A murderer among the people, your father was banished from the palace as well as the village it overshadowed and you along with him. Again, doomed by association. You’d never forget the look of sadness and despair on your playmate’s face as his chubby hands tried to reach out for you but his jackal headed father held him back. Meanwhile, you were being literally dragged away by your own father. Your father the murderer.

Life was cruel like that.

The two of you were just little then. Too young to understand why you could no longer play together and see each other in between your lessons in the palace. The little boy’s words rang in your head for days even after you had long been apart.

“I won’t forget you! I’ll come find you! We can still play together!”

Before you knew it, you were in your mid teens and hadn’t seen, smelled, or heard a thing from Jungkook. While you tried to ignore the sting of disappointment in your heart, you were becoming old enough to know better. Of course your friend would be forbidden to come visit you. Who in their right mind would want their child being around the daughter of a murderer?

What made things worse? Was that you were beginning to see some of your father’s traits in you. A demi-god held similar traits to that of their godly parent. So if Set was evil……did that mean you were doomed to be evil too? Did chaos run in your veins like you feared it did? No! You were not a murderer. No. You loved. Only loved. Yes. You would not wind up being like your father. Absolutely not.
